Two weeks ago, we moved from the judgment of God to that which He will be judging. In Revelation 18, we saw much lamenting over the destruction of Babylon. The people will lose all hope as they watch the smoke from her destruction rise. Misguided hope is sad to watch. Unfortunately, much of our country today has a misguided hope.

In Revelation 19, the loud laments of Revelation 18 will be drowned out by the Hallelujahs from heaven calling attention to God. After the praise session in the first ten verses, we see Jesus coming in all His glory as He steps out of heaven to judge sin.

Last week, we backed away from the judgment of God to take a look at what He will be judging. In Revelation 17, we saw the spiritual nature of Anti-Christ’s kingdom. The false religion of Anti-Christ will be judged, and it will be judged quickly by our righteous God.

Today, in Chapter 18, we will focus on the material aspects of Anti-Christ’s kingdom. False religion produces sinful behavior. Sinful behavior produces a world system that opposes God. In Isaiah 42:8 we see this: ”I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. Those who will follow Anti-Christ will idolize commerce and the goods that it provides.

Last week, we looked at the seven bowl judgments. The Great Tribulation will be a time of destruction and outpouring of God’s wrath. Praise the Lord for the Rapture!

Today, we will look at Revelation 17. In Chapters 17 and 18, we will back away from the actual judgment of God to see what He is judging. In Chapter 17, we will see the spiritual nature of Anti-Christ’s kingdom, and in Chapter 18, we will see its material aspects.

False religion abounds even in our churches today. Many regular church attendees trample God’s courts regularly when they come to church to worship themselves instead of Him. When we “play-like” we are worshipping Him, but we go to churches that fulfill our fleshly desires, we rob Him of what is rightfully His. The ultimate false religion is self-worship.

Two weeks ago, we saw the contrast between Chapter 13 as we looked at the darkness with the Dragon (Satan), and the two beasts (Anti-Christ and the final False Prophet) and the beginning of Chapter 14 as we looked at the light with the 144,000 standing with Jesus on Mount Zion, along with the angels bringing messages.

Today, we come to a much-debated section of Scripture yet again. There are three main arguments about the end of Revelation 14:

Great, God-filled Senior Moments

Over the last three weeks, we have looked at some ugly powerful things. We have looked at the unholy trinity, and make no mistake, they will rule the world for a short period of time called the Tribulation. As Christ-followers, we don’t have to fear them or the things of the Tribulation like the judgments or the mark of the beast. Praise the Lord for the Rapture!

Chapters 13 and 14 contrast sharply. Chapter 13 portrays darkness as it describes the dragon (Satan), and the two beasts (Anti-Christ and the final False Prophet). Chapter 14 portrays light as it describes the Lamb (Jesus), those sealed by God, redeemed saints, and authentic worship.

Over the past two weeks, we have looked at the dragon (Satan) and the first beast (Anti-Christ). These are the first two parts of the unholy or satanic trinity. Satan will give power to the Anti-Christ, and he will be extremely influential. He will be the political arm during the Tribulation period.

Satan is the Anti-God, the first beast is the Anti-Christ, and today, we will look at the second beast who is the Anti-Spirit. He will be the leader of the false religion and lead people to worship the Anti-Christ. He is known as the False Prophet.

Last week, we took a look at The Woman and the Dragon. We talked about how the woman represented Israel and the dragon represented Satan.

The idea of a huge red dragon with many heads waiting in front of the woman to devour the Baby Jesus doesn’t sit well with us. That isn’t something befitting a place in our Nativity, but most of our Nativity scenes aren’t very Biblical, to begin with. We would do well to measure everything that both society and culture throw at us to the Word of God. May we not become Biblically illiterate as a people.

Today, we will look at a section of Scripture called The Beast Out of the Sea. This beast is the second person of what many Bible scholars call: The Unholy Trinity. Last week, we saw the first person: the dragon - Satan - The Anti-God. Today, we will see the beast out of the sea - the Anti-Christ. Next week, we will see: the beast out of the earth - the false prophet - the Anti-Spirit. Last week, we read about the sounding of the Seventh Trumpet, but we won’t see the effects of this Trumpet until Chapters 15-18. Chapters 12-14 will give us another perspective of Chapters 6-11.

The sounding of the Seventh Trumpet will show “The Stark Reality of God’s Plan.” Nothing can change what God has planned because God is an unchanging God, and we are guaranteed of His faithfulness. The worship around His throne will continue because He is worthy of worship.

Today, we will look at a section of Scripture called The Woman and the Dragon. In our first point, we will talk about the Nativity. I have prayed that you wouldn’t check out when we talk about the dragon who was ready to devour the Child at birth. When we study Scripture, we understand that things are going on around us that we struggle to comprehend. Things are going on around us that would scare us stiff.
