Two 6-6 teams. Ugh!
But hold on .. credit due HC of NMSU Jerry Kill resurrecting a moribund program rather quickly.
PS Option Offense of Tim Beck (not the Beck you're thinking) and a talented Defensive Front 7 led by LBs Brohard & Mojo Ojoh (I didn't make those names up!).
BG QB McDonald had a good year and teams up with WR Helaire for some Buddy Ball. Decent D led by Sackmeister Brooks.
Can NMSU hang on for Kill's first ever Bowl Win or are we seeing another Mickey D comeback w/ McDonald & Helaire?

December 25, 2022 2022 Hawaii Bowl Preview - Middle Tennessee St vs San Diego St
Two middle of the road teams playing on Christmas Eve.

SDSU overrated this year coming off their surprising 2021 season, but sport a top notch defense using the Rocky Long / Joe Lee Dunn 3-3 Stack. Brady Hoke has finally gone more PS with dual threat QB Mayden after a terrible start offensively.

Rick Stockstill runs a top notch program at MTSU, but has struggled some lately. His up-tempo PSAR offense has slowed down and the D has struggled this year with inexperience + injuries.

Still, I think MTSU has a shot in this game. SDSU won games they were supposed to at the end then was shut down by Air Force. They should be fired up for this Christmas game in Hawaii, but so should MTSU.

I like what DC Shafer has done overall in his time at MTSU. They have playmakers (when healthy) and a lot of interceptions this year. Also, QB Cunningham and his WR group have been a positive this year.

A little D and a lot of O vs SDST's tough D - could this be enough for MTSU to pull off the upset in Hawaii?

December 24, 2022 2022 Gasparilla Bowl Preview - Wake Forest vs Missouri
Dave Clawson has built the kind of strong program that Mizzou is looking to resurrect. Coming off their best year and a great start to 2022, Wake had a lot of injs that did them in late in the year.
Coming into this game Wake looks healthier on D and with their top QB/WR tandem this makes them the dangerous team they were to start the year.
Missouri's strength this year was defense thanks to the hire of DC Blake Baker, but some key talent is out for this game - especially on the DLine, which will hurt Baker's attack style D vs a top offense.
Will Malzahn/Harsin protege Eli Drinkwitz be able to generate enough offense to make up the difference?

December 24, 2022 2022 Independence Bowl Preview - Louisiana vs Houston
Two teams that have struggled in 2022 playing post-season football...questions for another day.
For today I will say that Houston had a tough schedule and a lot of close losses. They lost some key players from last year as did Louisiana, but have nice QB/WR tandem in typical Holgorsen Air Raid form.
Louisiana had a great 3 yr run under Billy Napier, but he's gone and he took his coordinators with him. The rest of his staff, led by HC Michael Desormeaux, has a chance to start a new run, but for this game it's Houston who's the better team.
Will the Home Field advantage and freezing weather give LA a chance for the upset?

December 23, 2022 2022 Armed Forces Bowl Preview - Baylor vs Air Force
Baylor is coming off 3 straight losses and a tough season and now play a Triple Option team in freezing/windy conditions.
This game will come down to Power and Attitude... running the ball and stopping the run.
Dave Aranda canned his mentor and DC Ron Roberts because his Defense couldn't stop the run. Baylor runs a strong Power oriented PS Scheme, but they depend on the pass more than Air Force.
Aranda's Culture will be put to the test versus a very good and always motivated Air Force team in some nasty weather.

December 22, 2022 2022 New Orleans Bowl Preview - WKU vs South Alabama
Two more programs on the rise!

Great Coaching Staffs led by Tyson Helton for WKU & Kane Wommack along with Major Applewhite for SBama.

WKU had a much tougher schedule this year and has it rolling on both Offense and Defense now, but a lot of opt outs for this game.

SBama has all their players, which is an advantage, but are they ready for their first ever Bowl Win?
