As Change Makers we are constantly trying to figure out new ways to tell our story better. How can we communicate a new vision for a better world in a way that is enrolling to others that hear it? We have to paint a picture so bright and so beautiful that people can actually see it before it even exist. Today on Practice GOOD we talk to Sarah Hoag from Sarah Hoag Photography about how to tell this story! She gives us some powerful tips and ideas for communicating that story in the most compelling of ways!
The past few years have been tough for advocates, change makers, business owners, entrepreneurs, influencers and nonprofit leaders who are fighting for a better world! The word "exhausted" seems to be the theme that runs through every meeting and every mastermind. If you are feeling tired, needing a vacation, wondering how much longer you can pursue the vision you have for this world, this is an excellent episode for you to jump in on! Taylor O'Hern is a psychodynamic and EMDR trained counselor practicing as a mental health counseling resident in Indianapolis while completing state licensure requirements. She received her master's in clinical mental health counseling from Christian Theological Seminary and chases her three children with her husband on the north side of "Indy." She is excited to share with you some practical tips for Change Makers and our long-term sustainability!

With COVID, the elections, police brutality, injustice and so many other stressors today anger, anxiety, fear, and frustration is regular part of our everyday lives. While every emotion has purpose and value, we, as Change Leaders, have to be especially conscious that we do not allow these emotions to own us. So what do we do, when we find ourselves in places where these situations feel overwhelming and we struggle to control our mind, thoughts and emotions? We get a mindset reset! Now sure how? I didn't either. Here are four critical steps I recently learned that are essential to making a complete mindset shift in the midst of difficult times!
This week we welcome Meghan Tschanz from the Faith and Feminism podcast. I absolutely ADORE this woman! All you have to do is scroll through her podcast line up and you will be overwhelmed with the incredible wisdom and inspiration pouring out of this incredible human being! At Practice GOOD we were able to steal her for a moment to discover her incredible story leading up to starting her podcast, how she was changed by conversations with "Johns" in the sex trafficking industry, and how she takes care of her soul in the midst of her advocacy journey. Whether you are already passionate about feminism, ending the sex trade industry or new to the whole topic, this is an excellent podcast for you! Meghan is both educational and fabulously inspiring. She will not only give you a powerful education, she will make you want to crawl out of your skin with passion for a better world!
Everyone struggles with hard conversations. It is the worst when we know they are coming! We can't sleep at night. We think about what we will say over and over and over. We ask our family and friends if what we have planned to say sounds like we want it to sound. We play out all the possible responses of the other person. And then we worry about every outcome available. It doesn't have to be that when. When we lead teams, we can lead them through hard conversations in ways that are helpful and productive, ways that won't keep us up at night. Check out this episode for three things I ALWAYS do to get through hard conversations as a leader.
Burnout seems to be right around the corner for some many change makers. Every time we turn around our emotions, our programs, our good intentions and our efforts and being exhausted. How long do we have before we ourselves are burnt out? How long do we have before our teams are burnt out? Today we tackle the burnout for teams. What are three anti-burnout methods you can implement right away to avoid burnout for your social impact team?
I have seen this time and time again. Leaders think that everything is good. Good with their staff. Good with their culture. Good with those they partner with and/or serve. The problem is usually only know what everyone is willing to tell them. On today's podcast, we will talk about the one thing your staff is not telling you and how to fix it!
In today's episode we will do a response to the book Fear Gone Wild by Kayla Stoeklein, a story of mental illness, suicide and hope through loss. By doing this we will pull out some of the main topics of the book and discuss how suicide, mental health and the overall well-being of change leaders is impacted by the stress and overwhelming pressure. Change Maker, don't skip over this episode! The end result is not success without a healthy leader! Grab a coffee and take a listen!
Rudy Darden, professor of English at Valencia College and University of Central Florida and facilitator of The Peace and Justice Institute joins us today to talk about the importance of Change Leaders to have the conversation of race. Not only does he share some powerful begging steps that every white Change Maker will want to apply immediately, he dissects some valuable suggestions for his fellow black and brown Change Makers.
