In Ephesians 5:15-33, Paul talks about how submission that leads to unity is dependent on the Holy Spirit. Using marriage as the lens to look through, we see how submission, love, and respect all point towards the fullness of a loving relationship that we see in the Triune God. Often we don’t want to submit because we don’t want to be lost. However, Jesus seems to be insistent that the only way to live is to die, the only way to know love is to sacrifice.
