Welcome to Episode 19 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 19 I discuss the concept of having “one thing” as a purpose in your life. I take ideas from the popular book The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results , written in 2013 by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan.

What is your “ONE thing” and how does this give your life purpose? I have written a blog post based on this entitled The ONE Thing for Entrepreneurs. Using my own life experience as an example and Case Study I describe what life can be when you have one thing as your driving purpose. I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

I believe it is most probable that you will have a series of “one things” throughout your lifetime. But remember the Russian Proverb “if you chase two rabbits, you won’t catch either one” as you choose the purpose of your life right now that will serve you best.

Welcome to Episode 18 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 18 I discuss baseball as a metaphor for authorship and entrepreneurship. I think you will agree that professional sports and business have much in common and that we may learn from this comparison. These are some examples:

* When someone is called up to the “Show” after playing in the minor leagues, they instantly become a newbie  once again

* The manager of the team serves as a mentor to new players

* The more seasoned players soon become friends and colleagues

* The best players focus on developing one skill above all others (pitching, batting, etc.)

* Players only improve by “doing” and not by observing or asking questions

What this means for you as an author and/or entrepreneur:

* Even if you have been successful in a job or career for decades, you’re a newbie when you first come online

* You will benefit from finding a mentor to guide you (contact me if I may serve you in this way)

* You’re not alone and don’t want to be an island; reach out to others and develop friendships with your colleagues

* Choose one or two areas to specialize in above all others (authorship, affiliate marketing, etc.)

* You only succeed by “doing” and not by filling your hard drive instead of taking inspired action

If someone would have made this analogy for me in 2006 I could have moved ahead in my business much more quickly.

Instead, I struggled my first year and a half until a wise mentor pointed out the error of my ways. I shifted my

focus, took action every day, and soon replaced my previous income working as a classroom teacher and as a real

estate broker/residential appraiser. Please think about this and let me know your thoughts.

Welcome to Episode 17 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 17 I discuss “micro-marketing” as a way to grow your business and increase your bottom line. Micro refers to a smaller and less expensive version of something you may already offer, or it could be something brand new.

I created a “Micro Course on Affiliate Marketing” as a smaller, less expensive version of my full affiliate marketing course at Really Simple Affiliate Marketing.” Micro content is a title or headline, a snippet, and a link to a piece of content you have written or curated. Micro-continuity refers to a membership site that is a pared down version of a membership that is larger and more complete, whether you have already created it or not.

Micro marketing gives you the opportunity to connect with more prospects who may be interested in your topic but are not yet ready to commit to more time and a larger investment until they get to know you and what you have to offer. This podcast, Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing is an excellent and relevant example of micro-content.

Welcome to Episode 16 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 16 I discuss my thoughts on why content creation and content marketing are fundamental to building your business.

Content creation will always begin with your original idea, which may come about after you read something, talk to someone, or somehow bring your thoughts around to the topic of the day. Then, think about your short term goal for that idea. Next, determine what your long tern goal is for the idea. The example I share is from the the idea I had about sharing my experiences with money as a child, and as a classroom teacher with others. My short term goal was to turn this idea into a conversation and to write a blog post about kids and money. This evolved into a longer term goal of writing a book on the topic of teaching financial responsibility and values to children. A year later my book, Kids and Money: Teaching Financial Responsibility and Values to the Child in Your Life was published.

Content marketing includes sharing what you have written, recorded, or created as video to social media and to any other sites where you are sharing information in any format. Then, simultaneously you want to share your content with your list.
