It definitely does not. But the Hydroxychloroquine issue goes well beyond the question of whether one medication works. It goes to our arrogant refusal to believe experts, even when it means that we have to trust the most untrustworthy of people: politicians.
Everyone is focused on Trump’s wall being a useless waste of time and bad immigration policy. That is true, but there is another element to it: it is a cesspool of corruption.
The conspiracy theories that have developed around coronavirus are far-fetched and dangerous. Worse yet, they ignore the more fundamental problems that covid-19 has exposed, primarily in terms of the failures of America's health care and economic systems. These conspiracy theories also reveal a much more basic problem in America: Americans don't trust their government. But that is for good reason, given that the American government hasn't earned that trust.
In this first episode of the PragmatismUSA video/audio series, I discuss the primary problem that BOTH political parties in the U.S. have: corruption.
I also discuss the Pragmatic position on: campaign finance, the economy, health care, education, climate change, the military, taxes, immigration and criminal justice.
