Why does God allow difficulty in the life of someone who is pursuing Him? Psalm 59 gives us a powerful perspective. After crying out for deliverance from his enemies, the psalmist declares, “I will sing of thy power… for thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.” It is often through difficulty that we come to understand God’s strength, mercy, and faithfulness in a deeper way. When life is easy, we can drift into self-reliance, but in hardship, we are drawn back to dependence on Him. God uses those seasons not to harm us, but to refine us, strengthen our faith, and deepen our relationship with Him. If you’re walking through a difficult time, don’t lose heart—look to God, trust Him for deliverance, and choose to praise Him even in the middle of the struggle.
