God has entrusted to you something He considers to be of great value, something worth more than money, more than failure, worth more than your mistakes and that’s His image. That’s what He thinks of you. That’s how fond He is of you. This is how confident He is in who you are, that when He made you, He gave you His image. He marked you with His brand. He gave your His identity.

This week’s theme is titled “Assigned to Thryve!” I must admit that I have a great deal of excitement about this theme and I’m very excited to share it with you! This is God’s message to us this week, that we were assigned to thryve! While I’m going to offer a brief understanding of what this means, my goal is to help you start your week off strong. When preparing precious metals for use, they are brought to high temperatures in order purge it of any impurities. This way nothing is there that doesn’t belong. It is the fire that proves the quality of the metal. What about us? How are we tested for purity? For realness? Proverbs 17:3 says “The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.” The way that God proves our authenticity is through the testing of our hearts.

We live in a world of where there’s an overwhelming amount of untapped and unrealized potential. The reason is so many people have become intrigued with modeling their lives after the lives of others that are seen on television, social media, movies and more. In addition to the desire to model after the so many others in the world, some of the most powerful models are found in our relationships, especially in our homes. Nevertheless many of us spend a great deal of time pursuing lives that were never planned for us or simply satisfied with observing the lives of others instead of living our own.

In his sermon on the mount, Jesus declared “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” When Jesus says pure, this means to be genuine, sincere; free from anything that is false. In other words, Jesus is saying that it’s the heart that’s real that can see God. Remember to be real is to be honest, authentic and genuine. When we are dishonest with ourselves and others, we hinder our ability to see God move in our lives. The reason why is because when we live in a lie, we live in an illusion thus separating us from the reality of who God is. And if we never experience God, we will never experience the fullness of life.

Friend, I believe that 2020 has been a year of crushing. It’s been a year where we’ve gone through things that have tested us and brought us out of us that we didn’t know were there. The thing is some will look at the year of 2020 as a waste saying “After all the mess I’ve been through, I’m just ready for this year to be over.” But then there’s a group of us that have gone through the same year and have a different perspective. I can testify that 2020 has been one of the greatest years of my life! This year, I’ve found freedom, experienced deliverance and the overflow of God’s favor. All of us were in the same year, but what separates the two experiences? The answer is found in how we honor God with our resources – with our time and money.

I believe that when we honor God with our resources, He will take the most traumatic circumstances of your life and turn it into new wine.

Our goal and desire is to keep heaven open and maintain the flow of that blessing. In Malachi 3:8-12, God describes this flow as a pour and its source is from heaven. How do we keep heaven open? With an open heart. An open heart maintains an open heaven.

What tithing showed us is that we had very little discipline – if any at all. Giving to God revealed an absence of order in our lives. When we first began to tithe, we gave God our money but not our hearts. We looked at Him as a tool and not as our source. God was just a means to fulfilling our dreams and was not honored as King in our lives. Therefore when times got difficult, the strength of my loyalty to God was revealed where I began to withhold my tithe in partial or in full. It was clear that He was not first. Not in our finances and clearly not in our lives. However, even in our inconsistency, tithing was a door that gave God access to our hearts to correct what was causing chaos in our lives, to establish order.
