What is faith? Faith is confidence (right now) in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). Faith calls for confident action before manifestation. We see this modeled best by God himself who saw His creation sinking in debt of sin. In response to our need of salvation, He gave His only... His only Son so that we might be saved.

If you’ve ever had to go through any type of rehab or physical therapy, the purpose is so that you’re body is restored to adequate normal mobility without the assistance of another. In a sense rehab is essential to the healing process. For each of us, discipline is essential to our healing. We were once weak and feeble in our minds, our will and our ways but discipline is the key to our strength. What’s dangerous is that for some we’ve been this way for so long that our disability feels normal to us. It’s normal to not be moving. It’s normal to not be strong. We’ve normalized sin and chaos. We’ve normalized waste and laziness. These things maybe normal to the world but they are not normal in the Kingdom of Heaven, in fact they are despised. God didn’t make you to sit around wondering what you’re going to eat today, He created you for purpose and with a calling. But you cannot walk in either if your life is disabled.

A clear sign of a disciplined life is a peaceful life. However, a life filled with chaos is a normally a life that lacks discipline. This is not to say that disciplined people don’t experience chaos, because there will always be chaos created by unavoidable circumstances. But when the chaos that you're experiencing is avoidable, there’s a problem. This means your stress unnecessary and it only exists because of an absence of discipline.

This was a word that I didn’t want to hear. In fact, it’s like curse words to an undisciplined life. There were many times in my walk that I wanted to leave the church and abandon the faith but this scripture kept rising in my heart... “Don’t get out of anything prematurely.” I wanted to quit, the pressure was too high, the struggle was too real, the pain was unbearable but what I couldn’t see is that all of it were tools in the hands of the Father that are shaping me for my destiny. He was perfecting me.

The Rod protects you from dangers both external and internal. External dangers are the dangers that are obvious things such how David protected his Father’s sheep from the lion and bear. For us as God’s sheep, this could be physical danger such as sickness, emotional danger such as toxic relationships, or even spiritual danger such as bad doctrine. There are things that God has protected you from that had it played out, it could’ve destroyed you, but He defended you from it with His rod. These are things that shouldn’t be overlooked but we should give God praise.

God has a purpose for your life and this is why He takes the time to guide you, redirect you and correct you. When you recognize this truth (your having purpose), you will see that you cannot afford to waste time or effort and the need for discipline in your life. I believe that if you would embrace the discipline of the Lord in your life, you will experience life transformation. Discipline will transform your finances, your marriage, your home, your career, and most of all your relationship with God. Receive His discipline and receive the power it will release in your life.

What I want you to see is that God made each of us a promise (and He's a keeper of His promises). He promised that along with our new hearts, He would also give us His Spirit. No longer do we need the law to act as a pacemaker for our lives because now we flow in the rhythm that's driven by the Spirit. You see, it's the Spirit of God that gives us the ability to obey God, the ability to carry out His will. There's no longer a need to strive to be right, when the Spirit gives us the power to be right.

An instrument is most effective when it is used for the purpose it was created to do. If it’s not being used for its purpose then the instrument is being. As instruments of purpose, we were created to bring God glory and to carry out His will in the earth. The moment we are doing anything outside of that intended purpose, we bring dishonor to the one that made us and we live a life that is unfulfilled.
