  • Do your kids need better sleep?_Day 3

Join me this week as we pray our kids will start sleeping more peacefully at night and begin to form good sleep habits for themselves.

Day 3: Praying for our kid's sleep!

    Dreams and night terrors

Type in dreams in the YouVersion app and you'll see so many verses on dreams. We will be running down some of them.

    ACTION STEPS:

    1. Ask God to show you if there is anything in your power to help, anything that can be done to improve their sleep...changing diet, habits, medicine, or things the kids are watching.
    2. Print out or write Psalms 121 to read to your kids or pray over them at night. Bonus points if you personalize it with their name.
    3. Listen to your kid's dreams next time they share them. Pay attention to the emotions they use to describe what is happening. Oftentimes you can discover what emotions they are currently dealing with. I talk more about this on day 3.
    4. Join us this week on Prayers From a Mom Podcast Monday-Thursday as we pray for our kids to get better sleep.

PS: If you have sleep problems this will be good for you too!

    FOCUSED PRAYER:

I took some of Psalms 121 and rewrote it so you could pray it over your kids.

    Father,

I'm concerned about my kid's trouble sleeping. Show me what I can do to help them. But I realize that my kids' true help and protection is only from you, their Creator who made the heavens and the earth. God, you are their keeper; you will never forget nor ignore my kids. You will never slumber nor sleep; you are the Guardian-God for my children. You will watch over them; You are always at their side to shelter them safely in your presence. Thank you for protecting them from all danger both day and night and keeping them from every form of evil or any sudden distress. I know you are continuously watching over them. How incredible to know they are guarded by God himself. Give them peaceful dreams, and help me understand any emotions they are dealing with that are distressing them in their sleep.

Thank you for protecting them now and protecting them forevermore!

    In Jesus' name, Amen!

  • Walking with Jesus to the Cross_Day 7

As Easter is approaching this week and we are preparing for all the fun family activities and gatherings, I wanted to set aside time to remember the true reason for the Easter season and the sacrifice Jesus made.

This week will be 7 days instead of the normal 4 because I wanted to read about Good Friday on Friday and the resurrection on Easter day.

Join me this week as we walk with Jesus to the cross. It was the first time I have done this before and it was humbling.

    Day 7: The Resurrection

We have a new covenant and mission!

    John 20:1-31, Matthew 28:16-20

    ACTION STEPS:

    1. Carve out 30 minutes every day this week to follow along with the Easter story.
    2. Listen to Prayers From a Mom Podcast this week Monday-Sunday as we walk with Jesus to the Cross and out of the grave.

    FOCUSED PRAYER:

    Father,

As I spend time this week reflecting on the sacrifice you made for me and my family, I pray my actions and attitude reflect how truly grateful I am. You made a way for us to not only spend eternity with you and each other, but you died so that we could have a life full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control here on this Earth while we are still living. I pray my life reflects the sacrifice you made. I pray that I can fully embrace the power of you living inside me each and every day so that when people encounter me, they feel your love and grace.

    In Jesus' name, Amen!
