St. Justin, apologist and martyr, was one of the most important Christian writers of the second century. With St. Justin let us offer our praise and thanksgiving as one people of God through the ancient tradition of Lauds.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 31, 2022 | Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

"Blessed are you, O Virgin Mary, who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled." (Luke 1:45)

Would it not be an honor for the Blessed Mother, the mother of Jesus, to come to us for a visit? Like Elizabeth, we too are equally blessed to invite the Mother of God into our lives as she is the Mother of All the Living and the Mother of the Church.

Let us join Mary's song of praise as we thank the Lord for the gift of our Blessed Mother through the ancient tradition of Lauds.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 29, 2022 | Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

"I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God, alleluia."

Where we are going says more about us than where we came from. The truths of our faith reminds us where we came from - God - and Jesus' ascension reinforces our dignity as God's children meant to live forever in the Father's house in heaven.

Let us celebrate this day with praise and thanksgiving and echo the song of God's people through the ancient tradition of Lauds. Full-text to Sunday's Morning Prayer is available at ibreviary.com

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 27, 2022 | Friday of the Sixth Week of Easter

"Christ the Lord has promised us the Holy Spirit: come, let us adore him, alleluia."

Jesus does not promise us a life free from hardship and pain nor a life that is always easy. Instead, He assures us that though we will follow in His footsteps if we choose to be his disciple, His presence will remain with us through the Holy Spirit who will transform all our pains and sufferings into the joy that He promises in the end.

Let us offer to God our fitting praise for the gift of the Holy Spirit as we join the whole Church in our Morning Praise  through the ancient tradition of Lauds.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 26, 2022 | Memorial of St. Philip Neri, priest

"As the Father loves me, so I also love you; remain in my love, says the Lord, alleluia" -  Jn 15:9

St. Philip Neri (1515-1595) was born in Florence and died in Rome. This gracious, cheerful saint was Rome's apostle of the sixteenth century. A peculiar charism was his burning love of God, a love that imperceptibly communicated itself to all about him. So ardently did this fire of divine love affect him during the octave of Pentecost in his twenty-ninth year that the beating of his heart broke two ribs. It was a wound that never healed. (catholicculture.org)

May God graciously grant that the Holy Spirit may kindle in us that fire which he wonderfully filled the heart of St. Philip Neri. Let us join the People of God in offering to the Lord our Morning Praise through the ancient tradition of Lauds.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 25, 2022 | Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Easter

"I have many more things to tell you, but they would be too much for you now. When the Spirit of truth comes he will guide you to all truth, alleluia" - Benedictus, antiphon

Jesus has promised to send the Holy Spirit upon the apostles to lead them, give them courage and teach them all truth. Although we never had the privilege of seeing Jesus the way the apostles did, we have the same privilege of Him being with us always through the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Let us thank the Lord for this great gift as we offer to Him our Morning Praise through the ancient tradition of Lauds.
