  • Morning Prayer - THURSDAY, 9 June 2022

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - June 9, 2022 | Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal High Priest

The Feast of Jesus Christ the Eternal High Priest is a Roman Catholic moveable liturgical feast celebrated annually on the first Thursday after Pentecost. It is observed by the Confraternity of Christ the Priest in Australia and all the Roman Catholic dioceses of Spain.

The feast focuses firstly on Jesus’ Priestly Office. He is considered the model for believers, and for the clergy in particular, with priests acting In persona Christi (“in the person of Christ”).

Today, let us pray for all our priests that they would be more like Christ, the compassionate and trustworthy high priest, ever-living to intercede for humanity before the Father.

"Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father." - Mt 5:16

The world is so much in need of light because of the tremendous amount of darkness, pain and brokenness we see today. It is only when we remain connected with the source of life and light that we too can become life-giving to others. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to enkindle the fire of God's love in us so that His light may shine brightly in our lives and others may take comfort and warmth in it.

  • Morning Prayer - MONDAY, 6 June 2022

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - June 6, 2022 | Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church

"O happy Virgin, you gave birth to the Lord; O blessed mother of the Church, you warm our hearts with the Spirit of your Son Jesus Christ." - Gospel antiphon

Pope Francis has decreed that the ancient devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Mother of the Church, be inserted into the Roman Calendar, on the Monday after Pentecost. The Pope wishes to promote this devotion in order to “encourage the growth of the maternal sense of the Church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety."

Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

  • Morning Prayer - SUNDAY, 5 June 2022

    LISTEN | Morning Prayer - June 5, 2022 | Pentecost Sunday (Year C)

"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit..." - Acts 2:4

Today, we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the Church and of Christianity.

The feast of Pentecost is a day of thanksgiving for the foundation of the Church, in which are contained all the treasures of supernatural riches, and through which all grace and redemption are given to men.

It is a day on which we place a joyful and grateful trust in the operation of the Holy Spirit within us, and thank Him for His inspiration and guidance. On this day we again place ourselves in the hands of the Holy Spirit with complete confidence. He should be the soul of our souls; He should reign in us, amid the ruins of our own fallen nature.

Together with the whole Church, the People of God, let us offer our joyful praise to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit through the ancient tradition of Lauds. Full-text to Sunday's Morning Prayer is available at ibreviary.com

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - June 4, 2022 | Saturday of the Seventh Week of Easter

"Know that I am with you always, even until the end of the world, alleluia." - canticle, Benedictus

Even after ascending to heaven, Jesus continues to be with us through the presence of the Holy Spirit -- a powerful manifestation of God's enduring love for His children. Despite the many hardships we could come across in our lifetime, God's Word will stay true: He will be with us, as He is and always has been.

With grateful hearts, we offer to the Lord our praise and thanksgiving through the ancient tradition of Lauds. Full-text to Saturday's Morning Prayer is available at ibreviary.com

  • Morning Prayer - FRIDAY, 3 June 2022

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - June 3, 2022 | Memorial of St. Charles Lwanga and companions, Martyrs

"How precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his holy ones, alleluia." - Ps. 116:15

Today, together with the whole Church, we honor Charles Lwanga, and twenty-one other Ugandan martyrs. They are the first martyrs of Sub-Saharan Africa and true witnesses of the Christian faith. Charles Lwanga, a catechist and a young leader, was martyred in 1886 with a group of Catholic and Anglican royal pages, some of whom were not yet baptized. King Mwanga, who despised the Christian religion, gave orders that all the Christian pages in his service be laid upon a mat, bound, placed onto a pyre and burnt. This took place at Namugongo, just outside Kampala.

St. Charles Lwanga and companions, pray for us.
