Praying the Lauds - Your Daily Christian Morning Prayer

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - January 03, 2024 |Memorial of the Most Holy Name of Jesus

“After agreeing to baptize him along with the sinners, John the Baptist (…) pointed Jesus out as the ‘Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world’ (Jn 1:29). By doing so, he reveals that Jesus is at the same time the suffering Servant who (…) bears the sin of the multitudes, and also the Paschal Lamb, the symbol of Israel's redemption at the first Passover (Ex 12:3-14). Christ's whole life expresses his mission: ‘to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many’ (Mk 10:45).” (Catechism Of The Catholic Church, Nº 608)

Jesus is the Son of God and at the same time he is the son of a woman, Mary. He comes from her. He is of God and of Mary. For this reason one can and must call the Mother of Jesus the Mother of God, “Theotókos” (Council of Ephesus, 431 A.D.” (Benedict XVI)

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - December 29, 2023 |

Fifth Day within the Octave of Christmas

“The presentation of Jesus in the temple shows him to be the firstborn Son who belongs to the Lord. With Simeon and Anna (…) Jesus is recognized as the long-expected Messiah, the ‘light to the nations’ and the ‘glory of Israel’, but also ‘a sign that is spoken against’. The sword of sorrow predicted for Mary announces Christ's perfect and unique oblation on the cross that will impart the salvation God had ‘prepared in the presence of all peoples’.” (Catechism Of The Catholic Church, Nº 529)

Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord

COLLECT PRAYER

O God, who have made this most sacred night

radiant with the splendor of the true light,

grant, we pray, that we, who have known the mysteries of his light on earth,

may also delight in his gladness in heaven.

Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
