The issue of apostasy is a sobering topic…one that makes many people uncomfortable, and even a bit frightened. But because the Bible talks about it, we cannot shy away from it. We dare not depart from our faith in Jesus! Jesus has proven Himself to be our hope of salvation…and He is our only hope of salvation. May God help us endure in faith!

Almighty God had seen the sins of His people. He knew the lies of their religious hypocrisy. They clung to religious ritual and religious places for help, rather than seeking the Lord in faith and truth. Thus, God proclaimed His judgment. He still gave them an opportunity to experience His mercy, but it was an opportunity they dare not pass by. (Neither should we!)

Our Lord Jesus has given us every reason to have wholehearted confidence in His work. Let us rest in that confidence, being the church He wants us to be!

When it comes to Jesus, once is enough. What we require is a perfect sacrifice…Jesus provides it. He provided one for everybody, and one is all that anybody needs.

God gave Israel a grand invitation of grace, but they needed to take Him up on it. They couldn’t passively sit and do nothing. It required a response. What kind of response? Repentance.

There are many things that God’s children are called to do, but one of the most prevalent and repeated commands is to praise the Lord. So praise Him! One day very soon, both the Church and Israel will be united in their praise of the Lord during the Millennial Kingdom…but we need not wait until that day to begin our praise.

The things God calls us to do might not be as easy as we would like them to be. They might go as smoothly as we desire. But we can be certain of this: what God calls us to do, He equips us to do.

When the comparison is between earthly religion and heavenly priestly service, the differences are clear. Earthly religion will never cleanse us and reconcile us with God. We need Jesus’ priestly work. Thankfully, His work is available to all.

We need Jesus’ priestly work, which means we need a basis by which His work is available to us. That basis is seen in the glorious new covenant.

When Josiah set his heart to follow the Lord, it inevitably led him to the word of the Lord. And once Josiah heard that, he couldn’t help but respond. May we be more than just hearers of the word; may we be those who respond to God’s word! God’s word demands a response of faith.
