The things God calls us to do might not be as easy as we would like them to be. They might go as smoothly as we desire. But we can be certain of this: what God calls us to do, He equips us to do.

When the comparison is between earthly religion and heavenly priestly service, the differences are clear. Earthly religion will never cleanse us and reconcile us with God. We need Jesus’ priestly work. Thankfully, His work is available to all.

We need Jesus’ priestly work, which means we need a basis by which His work is available to us. That basis is seen in the glorious new covenant.

Ancient Melchizedek set the precedent for another priesthood – a superior priesthood. Jesus takes that precedent and fulfills it. Not only does He have the greater priesthood; He Himself is the greater Priest. He is perfectly qualified to be our High Priest, and we can have full confidence in Him as our Priest!

Manasseh has perhaps the most unlikely testimony among all of the kings of the Old Testament. He was as evil as a king could get. Yet, by the grace of God, when he was at his lowest, he finally came to faith. No one is too far gone to receive Jesus’ mercy and grace. If He could save someone like Manasseh, then He can save people like you and me!
