As we enter 2026, let us remember that the Scriptures call us to put God first. In a new year filled with unknowns and uncertainties, Christ reminds us to seek the kingdom of God above all else, trusting that our heavenly Father knows our needs and will provide in His perfect will.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Matthew 6:28-34 “28 And why are ye careful about clothing? Observe with attention the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin;29 but I say unto you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these.
30 But if God so clothe the herbage of the field, which is to-day, and to-morrow is cast into [the] oven, will he not much rather you, O [ye] of little faith?31 Be not therefore careful, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we put on?
32 for all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.34 Be not careful therefore for the morrow, for the morrow shall be careful about itself. Sufficient to the day [is] its own evil.”

In our lives, we are often quite content to please ourselves. Yet when we turn to the Scriptures, we see the Lord Jesus Christ — One who consistently put others first and never lived to please Himself.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Romans 15:1-3 “15 But *we* ought, we that are strong, to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.2 Let each one of us please his neighbour with a view to what is good, to edification.
3 For the Christ also did not please himself;”
John 8:29 “29 And he that has sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I do always the things that are pleasing to him.”
2 Timothy 2:3-4 “3 Take thy share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.4 No one going as a soldier entangles himself with the affairs of life, that he may please him who has enlisted him as a soldier.”

It is the start of a New Year, 2026. This preaching points us to the greatest new beginning of all — the gospel of Jesus Christ — where God offers forgiveness, new life, and a fresh start through the cross and resurrection, calling us to begin this year in faith and obedience to Him.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Psalm 111:10 “The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all they that do [his precepts]: his praise abideth for ever.”
Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge: fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Mark 1:1 “Beginning of the glad tidings of Jesus Christ, Son of God;”
Colossians 1:18-20 “18 And *he* is the head of the body, the assembly; who is [the] beginning, firstborn from among the dead, that *he* might have the first place in all things:19 for in him all the fulness [of the Godhead] was pleased to dwell,
20 and by him to reconcile all things to itself, having made peace by the blood of his cross”

Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
John 3:16 “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal.”
Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

John 4:46-54 “46 He came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain courtier in Capernaum whose son was sick.47 He, having heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, went to him and asked [him] that he would come down and heal his son, for he was about to die.
48 Jesus therefore said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders ye will not believe.49 The courtier says to him, Sir, come down ere my child die.50 Jesus says to him, Go, thy son lives. And the man believed the word which Jesus said to him, and went his way.51 But already, as he was going down, his servants met him and brought [him] word saying, Thy child lives.
52 He inquired therefore from them the hour at which he got better. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 The father therefore knew that [it was] in that hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son lives; and he believed, himself and his whole house.54 This second sign again did Jesus, being come out of Judaea into Galilee.”

In a world searching for peace, God reveals it through a Person. From Isaiah’s prophecy of the Prince of Peace, to heaven’s announcement over Bethlehem, and finally to the peace made through the cross, this message traces God’s perfect plan. True peace is not found in circumstances, but in Christ—promised, proclaimed, and purchased for us.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Isaiah 9:6 “6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.”
Luke 2:8-14 “8 And there were shepherds in that country abiding without, and keeping watch by night over their flock.9 And lo, an angel of [the] Lord was there by them, and [the] glory of [the] Lord shone around them, and they feared [with] great fear.
10 And the angel said to them, Fear not, for behold, I announce to you glad tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the people;11 for to-day a Saviour has been born to you in David’s city, who is Christ [the] Lord.12 And this is the sign to you: ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes, and lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good pleasure in men.”
Colossians 1:20 ” having made peace by the blood of his cross”

There is good news for all at Christmas: God has drawn near in Jesus Christ to each one of us, revealing His love and offering salvation.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Matthew 1:18-22 “18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: His mother, Mary, that is, having been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child of [the] Holy Spirit.19 But Joseph, her husband, being [a] righteous [man], and unwilling to expose her publicly, purposed to have put her away secretly;
20 but while he pondered on these things, behold, an angel of [the] Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to [thee] Mary, thy wife, for that which is begotten in her is of [the] Holy Spirit.21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for *he* shall save his people from their sins.22 Now all this came to pass that that might be fulfilled which was spoken by [the] Lord, through the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is, being interpreted, ‘God with us.”
Matthew 27-33-36 “33 And having come to a place called Golgotha, which means Place of a skull,
34 they gave to him to drink vinegar mingled with gall; and having tasted [it], he would not drink.35 And having crucified him, they parted his clothes amongst [themselves], casting lots.36 And sitting down, they kept guard over him there.37 And they set up over his head his accusation written: This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
Matthew 28:20 “*I* am with you all the days, until the completion of the age.”
Hebrews 11:6 “6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]. For he that draws near to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them who seek him out.”

In this gospel preaching, you will hear of three writings from God’s Word: the writing on the wall, which speaks of judgement; the writing on the ground, which reveals grace; and the writing in the heavens, which gives assurance.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Daniel 5:5-6 “5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
6 Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, and the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.”
Daniel 5:27 “27 TEKEL, Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting;”
John 8:6-9 “But Jesus, having stooped down, wrote with his finger on the ground.7 But when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up and said to them, Let him that is without sin among you first cast the stone at her.8 And again stooping down he wrote on the ground.9 But they, having heard [that], went out one by one beginning from the elder ones until the last; and Jesus was left alone and the woman standing there.”
Luke 10:20 “20 Yet in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subjected to you, but rejoice that your names are written in the heavens.”
