A short episode reflecting on Psalms 7–9.  - We explore how honest lament and steadfast praise work together as a spiritual remedy when we face false accusation, fear, or smallness before God. The Reformed Pastor of Encouragement guides listeners to bring complaints to God, rehearse his faithfulness, and practice concrete acts of thanksgiving so the soul is steadied and renewed.

Doris and I have been at this for more than five years now, and we often wonder how much longer God will use us, especially when I oversleep or miss a deadline. But I’m reminded of a comment found in the book “From Famine to Fullness,” by Dean Ulrich; it reads, “ Of all that could go wrong…in your life, God brings about good. No, we do not always know what good can come out of the situations in our lives, but God does. He makes no mistakes. We can believe that He is up to good on our behalf.”

𝓓𝓪𝔂 192 -“𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓢𝔂𝓷𝓪𝓰𝓸𝓰𝓾𝓮”

A reflection on Berea’s noble reception of the gospel. This episode encourages

listeners to pair eagerness with discernment by receiving the Word and testing it

    against Scripture.

Our desire is always to let Scripture be first and most in our hearts and hands

and other books be used as subservient to it. While reading we must ask ourself:

    1. Could I spend this time no better?

    2. Are there better books that would edify me more?

    3. Are the lovers of such a book as this the greatest lovers of the Book of God

    and of a holy life?

    4. Does this book increase my love to the Word of God, kill my sin, and prepare

me for the life to come?

Bible in a Year: Psalms 1-6  Acts 17:1-34

This episode invites listeners to trade demanding answers for humble trust and to receive God’s restorative mercy. And we should feel humbled by God’s sovereignty because Job has reminded us that God is infinitely wise, and we are not. When God finally speaks in chapters 38–41, He doesn’t explain Job’s suffering—He reveals His majesty. The effect is meant to be humility, not humiliation. A quiet, reverent awareness that God governs the universe with perfect wisdom even when we cannot trace His hand.

A reflection on mission, partnership, and painful separation in the early church. This episode encourages listeners to prioritize the gospel when relationships strain and to release one another in love for the sake of the work.

As it was in the time of Jesus, it is so in the time of our text, and even today, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38

A meditation on God’s majesty in Elihu’s speech. This episode invites listeners to approach every divine mystery with humility,  and trust in God’s sovereign care in our time of suffering.

When we come to the garden alone,
     While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice we hear, falling on our ear,
     The Son of God discloses.
And He walks with us, and He talks with us,
And He tells us we are I His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
     None other has ever known.

Till He comes – this is the way. Shalom

A reflection on the Jerusalem Council’s handling of doctrinal conflict. This episode highlights how Scripture, testimony, and grace guide the church toward unity without compromising truth.

In Horatius Bonar’s Light and Truth, v. 3, The Acts and Larger Epistles, 1869. We have “If you are Christians, be consistent. Be Christians out and out; Christians every hour, in every part. Beware of halfhearted discipleship, of compromise with evil, of conformity to the world, of trying to serve two masters – to walk in two ways, the narrow and the broad, at once. It will not do. Halfhearted Christianity will only dishonor God, while it makes you miserable.”
