Tim Young:

Tim Young is a New York native, and a lifelong vocalist, pianist, songwriter and performer. He holds two Grammy awards for his vocal work on The Greatest Showman (film) and Dear Evan Hansen (Broadway soundtrack). He made his Broadway debut with the original cast of Next To Normal, and went on to do David Bowie’s Lazarus, and the original Broadway cast of Dear Evan Hansen. He also played “Pippin” on FX’s Fosse/Verdon (TV), and recorded an original version of the Stephen Schwartz classic Corner Of The Sky, directed by Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton). In 2019, Tim won “Best Cabaret in NYC” and was nominated for “Best Male Performer in NYC” for his show Mary, co-produced with Frankie Sharp, hosted at Club Cumming (owned by Alan Cumming), bringing together some of the best talents around New York City into a singular, ever-evolving weekly show. Also in 2019, Tim released the film Stuck (Ashanti, Giancarlo Esposito, Amy Madigan), and original movie musical which he co-wrote, serving as Executive Music Producer, as well as producing the film’s soundtrack (and making an appearance in the film for a duet with Amy Madigan). Stuck had a selective release nationwide, and took home top honors at many film festivals around the country. In 2020, Tim and his five-piece band were developing a residency with The McKittrick Hotel (Sleep No More), and evening of high-energy full-band original songs and original arrangements of pop songs, which was cut short due to the pandemic. Since then, Tim began his weekly live-stream on Instagram (Wednesday nights at 10pm @soundsliketimyoung, The Curfew Show, a live-by-request performance, directly interacting with the audience, taking their song requests on the piano and microphone, and sharing stories about his life, the history of the songs, and conversation with the audience in real-time. Tim has now developed The Curfew Show LIVE, an in-person version of the show, performing weekly at Club Cumming in NYC (Tuesdays at 8pm).

At a young age, I was able to see energy and sense people’s emotions but I didn’t realize that this was abnormal. My grandmother had the same gift and taught me how to be in touch with it. When she passed away, I lost the only person I knew who was able to teach me how to grow my abilities so I tucked it away. I then spent my adolescence advancing my scientific knowledge of technology and decided to pursue web design. I launched my first company at the age of 17. Within four years I was developing websites for prestigious brands such as Chanel, Moet & Chandon, and the Dubai Mall.

The stress began to take its toll on my mind and body, even vacations were stressful due to the amount of work I was “not doing”.  I knew I had to do something about it.

Around this time I was introduced to the concept of energy healing while rock climbing – an activity that offered much-needed relief from my corporate life. A friend had hurt himself and I witnessed his symptoms vanishing within seconds through the work of an energy healer who happened to be climbing with us. The healer recognized right away that I could see and understand what he was doing when no one else could. He recognized that I had an affinity toward energy/spiritual healing and took me on as a student. Over the next 8 years I spent countless hours learning how to teach the body, the mind and the spirit to work together.

Speaking as someone who’s both open-minded and skeptical, I approached the field of energy medicine with reservation. The practice piqued my interest for its ability to help manage stress and balance body systems but I, as most, had a hard time believing in something that I could not see or touch.  It was contrary to everything I was conditioned to believe in a western medicine driven society. After countless positive outcomes from all kinds of issues, I began to understand the universe has a lot to teach.

I spent a few years working only on myself, but then started helping other people.  I was astonished at how drastically I could help them improve their stress and mental health through spiritual work. It started to become clear that spiritual work was my calling. I decided to open a practice and dedicate my time to helping others.LINKS:

I chronicle my reality, from living in a house of horrors until age 12, then entering a county system as an impressionable, prepubescent white boy, and exiting a cynically enraged egomaniac with no self-esteem and poor social skills. How could I have acquired social skills? I was taught to believe my only marketable skills were my sexuality, my anger, and my musical ability — in that order. I was diagnosed with PTSD during my first year on the streets by a Newport Beach psychiatrist. At 17, I was released to the streets and immediately began a male escort service; with me being the number-one escort. I also started two other careers at once, one considered illegitimate and one considered legitimate. I was modeling for an industry that was pornographic (photos for magazines), and I was also being hired to play music. In those days, I could keep the two separated; I could earn money in distinctly different businesses without ever worrying that somehow the two would collide, and I’d be found out. In fact, I lived in “my world” and I only entered “your world” when I had to. A world-renowned photographer renamed me Shawn Mayotte in 1983, and thus began my nude modeling career. I was also a personal escort (sex worker) to many rich and famous movie & television moguls and actors including Robert Reed, David Geffen, Dack Rambo, Sandy Gallin, Allan Carr, and numerous others.
