There is a time and place for everything. What does God have going on in your life?

Most of us have headed of in some direction to find the meaning of life. What 'streets' have you gone down to find out they were really dead-ends? Pleasure? Academics? Work? The real meaning of life is only found when in relationship with God!

Where do you find meaning when life seems to be a boring routine -- "from nothingness to nothingness"?

What yardstick do you use to determine if you are prospering or failing spiritually?

True belief, true obedience, and true love?

"Walking in the truth" - notice how important the issue of truth is to 'the elder' - whom we recognize as John the Apostle. Four times in the first four verses he speaks of loving in truth, knowing the truth, how he abides in the truth, and his presence 'in truth and love'... the truth that 'will be with us forever.'

The only way to God and the only way to be an overcomer is by means of Jesus... acknowledging who Jesus is and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior. God made sure we understood who Jesus was by providing three witnesses -- the Holy Spirit, water (baptism), and the blood (crucifixion).

The essence of our faith is that God who is love has given us both historical and experiential evidence to serve as a foundation for our belief. That love, demonstrated by the death of Jesus on the cross, produces victory by means of the empty tomb. He is alive!

John says that if we "love one another" God's love is "perfected in us." What are the marks that God is perfecting His love in your life?

This is the third time John has urged the importance of loving God and our love for others. Now, in 1 John 4:7-12 he exhorts us to love one another, he proclaims it as our duty to love one another, and he says "if we love one another" we actually reveal God to the world.
