This weeks show is sort of an impromptu show with Sara Hathaway of the Changing Earth Podcast and book series. Sara was not only our guest on the show this week, she was a guest in our home while she was in town for the preparedness convention here in Denver. 

After the convention on Sunday we decided to sit down with Sara and her husband to talk about preparing with children, wild fires, and bugging out. We also had a conversation about earthquakes and volcanoes during the Tin Foil Hat Time segment. 

Dark Days of Denver: For those of you that are avid readers of Sara’s books you know that the 5th book in the series Dark Days in Denver was just released. If you haven’t read any of her books yet this is a great prepper fiction series, and the newest book may be the most intense yet.

Children and the Preparedness Mindset: We talked for a bit about how Sara’s children have embraced the preparedness mindset and how other parents can get their loved ones on board with prepping.

She also mentioned the difference between preparedness and prepping in a child’s mind. Children have different concerns than us, so prepping topics like an economic collapse is unimportant to them. 

Bugging Out & Wildfires: In California wildfires seem to be more prevalent than in any other state. This is a major concern for Sara and her family and we talked about how they handle these situations. 

Some disaster scenarios offer very little time when it comes to getting out of Dodge. Planning, practice and information gathering are all important in quickly executing this process. 

Tin Foil Hat Time: Lisa and Sara took over the show at the end to talk about some of the changes going on a Yellowstone and the earth in general.

While the possibility that Yellowstone will erupt, or the New Madrid Fault will wreak havoc is low, it’s going to happen at some point. While most of us give this very little thought, it is something that would be absolutely devastating.
