Big John has built two homesteads over the past twenty years. The first was a twenty acre homestead in the wilds of Montana where he built and lived in a straw bale cabin for eight years with no electricity or running water. He and his wife- Cathy, home schooled their three daughters and raised 90% of their own food, living on about $3,000 per year.
