Enjoy this simple Gospel sermon on Romans 8:1-4 by Sean Morris, associate pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Oak Ridge, TN, preached at the church on July 7, 2024. The intro is congregational singing of Psalm 104, and the outro is an arrangement of "What Wondrous Love Is This?" played by Sarah Morris. You may view the entire service here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pme6hk5X3I8, and learn more about the church here: https://www.covenant-pca.com/
Terry Johnson has served as the senior pastor of the Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah, GA since 1987. He is the author/compiler of the Trinity Psalter and many other helpful books you can see here. You can also listen to his sermons here.
Special thanks to Nathan Clark George for our opening and closing instrumental. Nathan serves as the Pastor of Worship alongside Kevin DeYoung at Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, NC. You can access Nathan's fantastic catalog here.
Let's be honest—this is an odd show. We had a few friends (including Dr. D.G. Hart) to talk politics and 'Merica. There is some good content and discussion, but the show was about the debate and was for those watching it live. Give it a listen, there's some good content and some weird parts. Thanks to Ben Glaser, our friend, Mary, Josh Torrey, and Dr. Hart. Content warning: there was professional wrestling talk, too.

Dr. Dominic Aquila joins us to assess the latest PCA General Assembly in the context of the entire 51-year context of the Presbyterian Church in America. Brad's recent article (below) was our jumping-off point. Dr. Aquila is a former moderator of the assembly, a former long-time Standing Judicial Commission member, and is currently a pastor, church history professor, and editor of The Aquila Report. He has been active in each decade of PCA history.

The 2024 PCA General Assembly in Richmond, VA ended on time/early which means we had time to speak re-cap the event with a raucous room of friends including pastors Zach Byrd, Ryan Biese, Job Dalomba, Wilson Van Hooser, and Seth Miller, plus Presbygirl Zoe Miller and ruling elder/first-time commissioner BL Peters. You'll be encouraged by this group! Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TO9FIcO7TnM
PCA ruling elder Matt Fender, Presbygirl Zoe Miller, pastor Derrick Brite, and our new friend Jack join us to talk about Day Zero and Day One of the 2024 PCA General Assembly in Richmond, VA. Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3P_pcQFvpQ
After planting Trinity Presbyterian Church in Statesboro, Georgia in 1981, Roland Barnes faithfully served as her pastor for 42 years before receiving the honor of pastor emeritus (or, as he calls it, "pastor notorious"). In that time he's worn nearly every hat imaginable in service to the Savannah River Presbytery, including overseeing the planting of a nearly dozen churches. He is a regular contributor to Tabletalk Magazine (you can find his articles here and sermons here) and continues to labor with the Peru Mission. Special thanks to Nathan Clark George for our opening and closing instrumental. Nathan serves as the Pastor of Worship alongside Kevin DeYoung at Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, NC. An overture to the upcoming PCA General Assembly would constitutionalize the Directory For Worship chapter on preaching and clarify that preachers ought to be "qualified men"...and it's controversial! We discuss why this is the case with pastors Joe Cristman and Matt Adams and ruling elder Matt Lee. Here's the overture: https://pcaga.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Overture-3-Pee-Dee-BCO-53-website.pdf

This is a re-post of an excellent interview from Ryan Biese on the Westminster Standard with his wife Ann Biese, Sarah Morris on the book "Jesus Calling" and its connection to the PCA. Original show notes:
In 2004 Covenant Seminary Graduate and MTW Missionary Sarah Young Published Jesus Calling, a daily devotional written in the first person as if Jesus were speaking directly to the reader. But the words were not those of Christ, but the private thoughts and reflections of the author. Since the time of publication, Young's book has sold more than 45 million copies making it perhaps the most influential book written by a member of the PCA or Covenant Seminary graduate.
On this week's episode TE Zack Groff joins along with Mrs Sean Morris and Mrs Ryan Biese to discuss what Groff described as a "defiling influence" upon evangelicalism. Why was it so few PCA people warned about this book, which seems to deviate from what the PCA confesses regarding the way God meets with His people.
