On this episode of Pretty Sick Lupus Chic, I invite my wonderful, amazing, and pain in butt husband, Henry, on the podcast to share his experience of being married to a person living with Lupus Disease. After 16 years of marriage, Henry has been with me, in and out of hospitals, and has always been my rock. Currently, he is being evaluated to donate a kidney to me. We discuss this as well as how he finds his strength to support our family and find the moments to laugh through it all.
As it is Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month as well as Women’s Appreciation Month, I thought it would be great to bring my friend, Jessika McKee onto the podcast. She is a chronic illness warrior. She has Hashimoto’s Disease, Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, and many more overlapping diseases. As a single mother, with 2 children and a full-time job, Jessika shares what it is like to live with an invisible illness, how she got diagnosed and dating while having a chronic disease. As always we will talk about motivation and tips to help manage her illness which happens to be yoga.
In the pilot episode of Pretty Sick Lupus Chic, Mekkah sits down with her son, Amaru, to discuss what it has been like growing up with a mother dealing with Lupus Disease. The two share intimate stories about what day-to-day life has been like as well as their experiences have been going in and out of the hospital and how going through those experiences created an even stronger bond between the mother and son.
