Matt and Anne discuss the latest news from the Church of England. The Synod today (11/15/23) adopted a motion calling for “trial” same sex unions, throwing herself further into the mire of apostasy. They also talk about parenting and the responsibility of parents to teach children how to control their emotions.

Matt and Anne discuss the idea promoted by a growing number of egalitarians that complementarianism and the concept of “male headship” is inherently harmful. They also discuss the differences between men and women when it comes to lust and pornography and how God provides marriage to remedy our fallen desires. The aim seems to be to make love and kindness the enemy of truth, something scripture never does. Then they discuss the terrorist attack on Israel and the reason God has given governors the power of the sword to defend their people and to punish evildoers.

Matt and Anne discuss President Trump’s compromise on abortion and what that means for pro-life/abolitionist voters. They spend the bulk of the time discussing ACNAtoo, a group purporting to help abuse survivors, coming out as an organization dedicated to queer theory that leads people away from Jesus and into the darkness of unrepentant sexual sin.

Matt and Anne discuss Matthew 18 and why it is so important for Christians to obey Jesus and not avoid conflict on the one hand or resort to gossip on the other. Matthew 18 is the best way to avoid bitterness, prevent the formation of factions and cliques and fueds, and to act in love toward people who sin against you rather than making them your enemies. Many if not most church splits can probably be traced back to a decision not to go to a person face to face.

Matt and Anne discuss the strange trend of single women posting videos about how wonderful life is without children and a husband. Singleness can, in the context of the Christian life be good and wonderful and holy, but these videos seem to celebrate singleness because it provides for more “me time.” Then, in light of the book Anne is reviewing, ‘The Great De-Churching,’ they discuss whether or not a church should make an all out effort to attract members who left the church. They also discuss the increasing misuse of words like ‘abuse’ and ‘trauma’ by some who have dropped out of church.

Matt and Anne continue to discuss Amy Peeler’s book “The Gender of God,” focusing in particular on the question of the Incarnation. Does the fact that no man was involved in Jesus’ conception make Jesus a different sort of man, a male with a special feminine aspect to his nature that enables him to be the savior of both men and women? They also toward the end remember faithfulness of Bishop Herzog who passed away last week.
