We talked with Juan Baez and Misty Powers they are Problem Gambling Specialist for the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. regarding Problem Gambling Awareness Month.
Juan previously worked in the gaming industry as a Training Specialist and was responsible for the training of all casino employees in the responsible gaming program. Prior to that, Juan worked as a Targeted Case Manager for a behavioral health agency. Juan is currently working on his addictions counseling credential at Fort Hays State University. He also serves on several committees for the National Council on Problem Gambling and the Midwest Consortium on Problem Gambling.
Misty has a range of experiences that include Executive Director of a Nursing Home for Mental health serving the SPMI population. She also has worked in law enforcement as a Detention Officer. Misty holds her B.G.S in Criminal Justice and Sociology as well as an M.S in counseling from Fort Hays State University with an emphasis on family as well as drug and alcohol therapy.
She is also a Licensed Adult Care Home Administrator.
