Tina Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock; November 26, 1939) is an American-born Swiss singer, songwriter, and actress. Known as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll", she rose to prominence as the frontwoman of Ike & Tina Turner before launching a successful career as a solo performer.

From her time as frontwoman for Ike & Tina Turner to her 1984 breakthrough album "Private Dancer" it's difficult to put into words the impact Tina Turner has had on popular music. From a fractured childhood, an abusive marriage that introduced her to the masses, 12 Grammy Awards, the first black artist (female or otherwise) to grace the coveted cover of Rolling Stone, an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to one of the best-selling artists of all time — Tina Turner's accomplishments are an astonishing feat that most people can only dream of.

From 2008 - 2009, Turner embarked on a worldwide tour that sold out venues across the globe and declared it to be her last. Eight years later, she would return to the stage for her "Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour," which went on to be the 9th highest grossing tour in 2009.

Tina Turner was a pop singer, soul singer and considered the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" for her raucous performances and reinterpretations of other artists works. It may seem odd that Party Favorz would induct her into the Diva Hall of Fame because she was not a disco or dance music artist.

Nevertheless, much of her music from the 80's was available in extended dance versions popularized at the time. By the time the 90's kicked in, it was not uncommon for pop and rock artists to be remixed for the burgeoning House Music scene. Sadly, much of her music didn't really translate well to this format or at the very least it's clear many of the big-name DJs at the time had difficulty with the transition.

It's not clear how Turner felt about the remixes as none of them were ever a major hit until the release of "When the Heartache Is Over" from her final album "Twenty Four Seven" written and produced by the team that resurrected Cher's career with "Believe" the previous year.

However — not unlike say Stevie Nicks who is also inducted into the Diva Hall of Fame — Tina Turner is a gay icon with legions of gay fans thus the justification of her induction.

This tribute set strays from the normal way I mix things only because it spans decades of music in a variety of styles, genres and tempo. It was not possible to key everything together and so there was a heavy reliance on beatmatching to keep the flow consistent.

The Hex Hector remix of "When the Heartache Is Over" is included because it's rare even though it appears to be unfinished. I went back and created a mixshow edit for a more cohesive mix. On the other hand, Soul Solution basically phoned in their remix of "On Silent Wings" forcing me to cut it down into a more manageable mixshow as well.

Overall, this set is a B+ in my book and likely the best anyone will get without re-working most of the tracks. It is meant for hardcore fans of which I know there are plenty because I've had a lot of you suggest it to me. It was Kygo's rework of "What's Love Got To Do With It" that finally got me to go back and look at these songs again.

Tonight, HBO is airing the much anticipated documentary "Tina" on their platform. Ms. Turner is now 80 years old and not in the best of health and this is a final farewell to remember the woman, her gifts, remarkable career and the much joy she has brought to the world during...

Party Favorz is back with our latest Disco House offering "Where the Happy People Go."

This set kicks off with some powerhouse disco tracks that will burn the house down. It then transitions into more cosmopolitan disco (which appears be the rage at the moment) before moving into some great vocal house with the awesomeness of Kathy Brown, Siedah Garrett, The Fog and St. Jude before closing out with Mark White's funkalicious "Supreme."

The mix is actually my first draft as I usually knock-out the mix first and then go back and add/subtracts songs, make edits or move things around for better flow on the final mix. However, I was working on two sets at once and accidentally overwrote this set with the other causing me to lose everything.

In the 14 year span of Party Favorz, this has only happened once before. After listening to this set a few times — I can honestly say that I'm happy with the first draft.

I have a special Diva Hall of Fame inductee scheduled to drop for tomorrow. This diva's induction is long overdue and is only for hardcore fans (like myself) which honors this woman's tireless work in the music industry. More on that tomorrow.

Until then...ENJOY!

It may still be a bit nippy outside but today is the first day of spring and I can't think of any better way to celebrate it than with a Tea Dance set.

Lets face it, 2020 was a disaster and 2021 is only beginning to resemble a slight ounce of a return to normalcy. Then again, that all depends on where you live. If you're in a science denying state that values profit over lives — then nothing has really changed for you.

Meanwhile, everyone else who follows the science, wears masks in public while social distancing and gets vaccinated as soon as it's available have been the people taking one for the team. I won't get bogged down into the specifics nor am I here to lecture but let's just say it ain't over no matter how badly you tell yourself otherwise (even after vaccination) but I digress.

Our duty is to put you in a happy mood and get you ready for what ultimately awaits on the other side of this thing.

I do want to mention that the opening song is not new, nor is it an updated version of the song. "If You Leave Me Now" by Veronica Sales (not the Chicago classic) just showed up while perusing JunoDownload for additional Disco House tracks to fill out the next set.

It turns out, the song was recently made available to download services but is originally from 1992. That's about all I know of the song because it was never a hit in the states.

Having never heard the song before and after previewing it – I knew I had to include it in this set. The song bleeds GAY from every vocal to every beat! If you've never heard it before, you're in for a campy treat.

The rest of the set is either new tracks or reworked classics by some of our favorite DJs like Barry Harris, Dirty Disco, Block & Crown, Division 4 and Jet Boot Jack. It blends tracks from the 70s, 80s, 90s to current day and is a masterful work of happy dance music. If this doesn't put a smile on your face — nothing will.

I've got a new Disco House as a companion piece to this set going up soon, our annual Spring Break set that's gonna be different than the standard commercial dance releases and hopefully (fingers crossed) a long overdue Diva Hall of Fame entry.

In fact, the April and May calendar release schedule is all filled up. Technically, June as well because I had been fretting on what to do for Gay Pride month but I've got it all figured out.

Until the next time... ENJOY!

We have reached the third and final volume paying tribute to the master Ralphi Rosario and his legacy. He continues to remix massive hits to this day as in the recent "Rain On Me" by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande as well as RITMO by Black Eye Peas — both of which were monster hits in the past year and featured on these releases.

Rosario's catalog of productions and remixes is vast and diverse going back to 1987 even though he's been perfecting his craft for much longer. His songs and remixes have significantly contributed to the soundtrack of millions of gay boys and girls to not recognizing his work would be a travesty.

I hope everyone has enjoyed this tribute series and make sure to hit him up live once things open back up sooner rather than later.

I have another master DJ on tap who is Ralphi's peer and his equal. I'll leave that as a tease for now and will start dropping those sometime this next week or so. After, we'll dive right back into our spring series of Circuit & Anthems, Dance Club, Disco House, and Peak Hour to carry you folks through spring break. Until then...ENJOY!

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Nicholas C. $20, Glenn A. $10, Ludovic D. $20, Casper Y. $50, Joe S. $50, Anthony S. $100 and Paul S. $50 for their generous donations in helping us renew our web hosting services. We still need about a little less than half to meet our goal in the next 12 days so any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Party Favorz finally made it through the Ralphi Rosario Legacy series, which I overestimated its depth and ended up expanding to three volumes. Even then, I was loathed to leave many great tracks on the cutting room floor, but when compiling these tribute sets to legends that have been in the business as long as Ralphi has, you have to edit.

Volume 2 picks up where we left off with some of his greatest work from over the years including last year's massive "RITMO" by Black Eyed Peas & J Balvin. The hits are included and the one y'all are looking for will make an appearance on volume 3 (you know what I'm talking about).

The goal here is to not only showcase the hits but a lot of the underground and lesser-known tracks that were popular in the underground peak hour scene. Never mind that he and Rosabel have done extensive work with Latin artists providing musical touch that only they could master (next to Pablo Flores, Tony Moran, and to some extent Hex Hector, and Junior Vasquez) so I did touch on some of those tracks throughout these sets.

Overall, a great deal of diversity is spread throughout these three sets. For those only familiar with the more commercial side of Ralphi Rosario — you're in for a pleasant surprise. I'll be back on Saturday with the final volume. Until then...ENJOY!

Ralphi Rosario is an American house musician and founding member of the influential Chicago DJ group Hot Mix 5. The group was formed in 1981 while Ralphi was still in high school at the time the group became one of the major early forces of the burgeoning House Music scene in Chicago. By 1987, he collaborated with Xaviera Gold for "You Used To Hold Me," which was one of the most influential early House Music tracks of all time for what later was a revolution on the dancefloor.

While Ralphi continued to put out early House Music releases throughout the nineties — his style rapidly changed when he teamed with Miami's DJ Abel (Aguilera) to form Rosabel a hybrid version of his last name and Abel's first name for a new more tribal house sound that he continued to perfect through today. Later the duo would introduce more Latin influences in their work while producing muscular House Music tracks for major artists that showcased their heritage and alternate musical influences.

As a duo they have racked up five #1 Billboard Dance Club hits and Rosario has racked up fourteen Top Ten Dance Club Hits and two #1 hits. This does not include the hundreds of #1 hits for remixes of other artists including, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Chaka Khan, Cher, Crystal Waters, Cyndi Lauper, Donna Summer, Erika Jayne, Gloria Estefan, Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland, Kristine W, Kylie, Mariah Carey, ONO, Rihanna, Jennifer Holliday, Pussycat Dolls, Selena Gomez, Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande and countless others. The list is exhausting but 90% or more are all included in the Party Favorz Diva Hall of Fame.

With over 60 hours of tracks (which doesn't even come close to his breathtaking catalog) to choose from — I had numerous ways to approach these two sets honoring the master. I finally settled on hitting on the gayest tracks with the biggest divas and spread it out between the nineties and millennium with some rare tracks and some underground sounds that were predominantly only heard in queer clubs.

Once I put out volume 2 — all told there will be approximately 8+ hours of classics for your enjoyment. These sets are not intended to showcase his entire career but they are a good start.
