In this episode Emma talks about the 'Passport to Primary Care' course, a Cornwall Training Hub initiative, supporting access to primary care roles for newly qualified health care professionals/returners, those with previous experience in different health care fields, alongside those interested in non-clinical roles with no prior healthcare experience.

Passport to Primary Care is a multi-professional introductory training programme, which is delivered through pre-course learning and interactive virtual sessions. Participants are signposted to a variety of educational and training resources and following the course, they can access a range of training from Cornwall Training Hub’s prospectus based on their individual requirements.

 In this bonus episode, Emma interviews Morissa Livett, a first contact physiotherapist (FCP)  working in primary care in Cornwall. We discuss what exactly FCPs are, the types of patients they see, what a typical day might look like, entry requirements into this role and career progression. Morissa highlights some useful resources for current and potential FCPs including the road map (see links below).

In this bonus episode, we hear from Lead Dietitian Lisa Ledger, who tells us how the profession is establishing itself as a vital part of primary care. Speaking to Rosie Brown from our communications team, Lisa provides a fascinating insight into the role dietitians can play in taking patient load from GPs, as well as sharing the positive results from a study she conducted into frailty and malnutrition.

At this event there was a variety of stalls from organisations within primary care and representatives from various PCNs and GP surgeries. This podcast has been split into 2 parts and in part 2 we talk with representatives from the various PCNs and GP surgeries in attendance that day.
