  • 262 | One Small Way to Feel Like Yourself Again as an Overwhelmed Mama (It’s Not What You Think)

If you’re an overwhelmed mom who has lost herself in the doing of motherhood, this episode is for you. Learning something new, even something small, can have a huge impact on you, your kids, and your everyday mom life. Danielle builds on the Tuesday challenge by explaining why learning matters so much for moms and how it can help you feel like yourself again. She shares how learning to build an art desk gave her a piece of herself back, how her daughter learning to swim changed their summers, and why you don’t have to be good at something to start. You don’t need to overhaul your life or master anything this week. You just need to pick one thing and take one baby step toward it.

    What You’ll Learn
    1. Why learning something new helps you feel like yourself again: how a new skill can restore your sense of identity when you’ve lost yourself in motherhood.
    2. Why your kids can’t be your whole life: they are your whole world, but defining yourself only by motherhood is risky, and learning gives you a piece of you back.
    3. How to stop pouring from an empty cup: doing something just for you fills you up, so you can show up with more joy, patience, and presence for your family.
    4. How to learn something even when you’re not sure you’ll be good at it: why learning how to learn is a valuable skill, and how a YouTube video and a little trust in yourself can get you started.
    5. Why small skills make a big difference: from Cricut projects, sourdough, and baby food to speed reading, crocheting, gardening, lifting weights, or writing a book, the right skill can ease your days and bring back joy.
    6. How to start without feeling overwhelmed: pick one thing, take one baby step, and let the next step reveal itself.
    7. Along the way, Danielle shares words from Pablo Picasso, Mark Cuban, and Anthony J. D’Angelo on learning, growth, and developing a passion for learning.

You don’t have to wait until you have more time, more confidence, or the perfect plan. When you learn something just for you, you fill your cup, move forward, and begin to feel like yourself again. That joy spills over into how you parent, and your kids benefit too. So pick one thing this week, take one baby step toward it, and let yourself enjoy the process, mama.

    8. 261 | Lost in the Doing of Motherhood? Learn 1 Thing to Feel Like Yourself Again

A simple weekly challenge for overwhelmed moms: pick one small skill that would make your daily life easier, richer, and more joyful.

Welcome back, mama! If you’re feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or like you’ve lost yourself in the doing of motherhood, this week’s challenge is for you. It’s not about going back to school or adding another big task to your already full plate. It’s about choosing one small skill that would make your everyday life a little better, and then taking one step toward it.

      The Challenge

This week, think about one thing you could learn that would improve your daily life. It doesn’t have to benefit anyone else, and you don’t have to master it this week. Just pick one, and let it sit with you until Thursday. Next, we’ll take a baby step toward it.

Need ideas? Here are some to get you thinking:

      • A tool you already own: That Cricut collecting dust in the corner could save you time and money on teacher gifts, coach gifts, and matching tees for girls’ trips.
      • AI for meal planning: Tell an AI tool what’s in your fridge and ask it to help you build a recipe or a week of dinners.
      • A garden or a new hobby: Maybe you’ve always wanted to start a garden or bake sourdough but worried you wouldn’t be good at it.
      • Stillness and rest: Learning to quiet your mind, rest, or be present for yourself.
      • Prayer, meditation, or journaling: A practice that grounds you, even if you’re not sure what it looks like yet.
      • A dream you’ve put off: One small step toward something you’ve wanted for a long time.
      • A skill for your kids: Like teaching your child to swim, which can change what your whole family is able to do.
      • Why It Matters

Small skills can make a big impact. When my daughter learned to swim, it drastically changed our lives. I could finally trust her in the water and say yes to things we’d had to avoid. You never know how much one little skill will ease your days, restore your confidence, and bring back a sense of joy and fulfillment.

And remember the words of Helen Hayes: “The expert in anything was once a beginner.” Don’t let “I don’t know if I’ll be good at it” talk you out of it, mama. Whatever you’re drawn to, don’t judge it.

        Final Thoughts

You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need a perfect plan. You just need to pick one thing. This week, choose your skill and let yourself get curious about it. We’ll dig into what to do with it, and why this matters so much for us as mamas, on Thursday.

      • 260 | Feeling Lonely & Overwhelmed? How To Feel Loved By Giving It Away, Mama

Why the love you give away is the only love you keep, and how to model kindness for your kids, even with people who see the world differently.

Do you feel lonely, empty, or disconnected in the middle of the overwhelm of motherhood? In this episode, Danielle shares a message that has been on her heart: the power of love and kindness, and why we need it now more than ever as moms. Drawing on quotes from Victor Hugo, Katharine Hepburn, and Elbert Hubbard, she explains why you can't be truly happy unless you feel loved, whether that love comes from God, from yourself, or from others. She also talks about what happens when we only seek out people who validate our beliefs, and why our kids are watching how we treat people who think differently than we do. This is a gentle but honest look at loving others without losing yourself, and at how giving love freely is what opens the door to receiving it.

        What You'll Learn

        1. Why you can't be truly happy unless you feel loved, and how loving yourself begins with knowing what love is
        2. How our need for validation and "my way or the highway" thinking leaves us feeling alone and divided
        3. How to show love, kindness, and respect to someone who disagrees with you without letting them walk all over you
        4. Why "outflow equals inflow" and what it means that the love we give away is the only love we keep
        5. How to soften your heart so you can receive the love that is already available to you
        6. Why kids model what they see, and how to teach them kindness by living it
        7. This week's challenge: show love or kindness to someone you wouldn't normally feel inclined to, or model it for your child
        8. If you've been feeling empty, scattered, or low on love, the answer may not be finding more of it, but giving it away. Love and kindness don't mean accepting mistreatment or giving up your boundaries. They mean respecting people as humans, standing up for yourself, and choosing not to be ugly back. When you extend love freely, you teach your children what it looks like, and you open your own heart to feel it again.

        9. 259 | You're Not Failing, You're Resisting: 4 Steps to Stop Avoiding the Thing, Mama

What if what looks like procrastination is really resistance, and there's a reason underneath it?

On Tuesday I challenged you to name one thing you've been resisting. Today we get to the why. In this episode, I share what I uncovered about my own resistance to getting our house in order. Then we will walk through 4 simple steps to help you uncover what's really going on, so you can finally take action on the thing you know would make your life better.

          Procrastination vs. Resistance

Sometimes we think we're just putting something off, but there's an underlying reason we don't want to do it. That reason often shows up as doubt, stopping halfway, or thinking we won't finish. The real cause is usually one of three things:

          • A lack of clarity: you can't see the path forward or what the finish line looks like, so it feels easier to avoid.
          • A fear: fear of failing, fear of letting go, or even a fear you inherited without realizing it.
          • A feeling: an emotion tied to the task, like sadness, anger or guilt.
          • The 4 Steps to Stop Resisting
            1. Ask why until you hit the real answer. Keep peeling back the layers. It could be seven layers deep, and if you think you've hit the answer but part of you says it might be deeper, keep going.
            2. Name what's missing. Is it a system, a plan, support, or permission? Sometimes you need all of them.
            3. Shrink it to one small step. Not the whole project, just one thing you can do this week.
            4. Change the thought behind it. Once you know the why, reframe what you're telling yourself, and the resistance starts to loosen.
            5. Inspiring Quotes We Explore
              • Teal Swan on why resistance always has a reason
              • Chip Heath on how resistance is often a lack of clarity
              • Brendan Burchard on the long-term cost of avoidance
              • Robert Conklin on changing the thought that creates resistance
              • Robin Sharma on how the thing you're avoiding may hold your biggest opportunity
              • Final Thoughts

You are not a failure, mama. You may just be missing clarity, a plan, or support. And the thing you're avoiding might be your biggest opportunity. Even if there's fear behind it, remember that you don't know how it will turn out, and what if it turns out better than you imagined?

              • 258 | Feeling Stuck & Overwhelmed? Take the Resistance Challenge, Mama

What's the one thing you keep resisting, even though you know it would make your life better?

Last week we talked about the things you've been putting off. This week we're going a layer deeper, to what you're actually resisting. In this short Purpose Pop In, I challenge you to name the one thing you know would make life easier if you stopped fighting it and just did it.

                The Challenge

Think of one thing you know you're resisting. It's more than putting it off. You keep moving it, you know it would improve your life, and you still can't quite bring yourself to do it. There's usually a reason underneath, and you may not know what it is yet. That's okay. Naming the resistance is the first step toward clarity.

Here are a few places overwhelmed moms often find resistance:

                • Home and household: getting your house truly in order, not just one clean corner. I share my own story of resisting this for years, even after I clearly heard God tell me it was time.
                • Money and paperwork: paying bills, opening the mail, or tackling the pile you keep walking past.
                • Health and appointments: scheduling that doctor's appointment you've been avoiding.
                • Hard conversations: making the phone call or delivering delicate news to someone who needs to hear it.
                • Motherhood milestones: starting preschool, sending your child to kindergarten, or that first haircut, which is a big emotional moment for a lot of moms.
                • Fear underneath it all: sometimes what looks like avoidance is really fear, and that deserves a gentle look.
                • Resistance keeps us scattered, stuck, and running on empty. It quietly drains the energy we need to pursue the things we actually want. Eckhart Tolle reminds us that when we let go of inner resistance, the circumstances around us often change for the better. That's why I keep inviting you to take one small, honest step toward change. Facing what we resist is how we start to feel like ourselves again and stop just surviving our days, mama.

                  Final Thoughts

You don't have to solve it now. Just name it. Write down one thing you know you're resisting that would make your life better if you did it. We're in the middle of a challenge series, and every week is about stepping out of your comfort zone and moving forward together. Join me Thursday, when we dig into why we resist and how facing it changes everything.

                • 257 | Procrastination or Prioritization? 3 Steps to Get What You've Been Putting Off Done, Mama

We all have that one thing we keep putting off...and it's not always procrastination. In this episode, Danielle shares the real (and costly) story of what happened when she kept delaying booking a flight for an upcoming trip, and the mental, financial, and emotional toll it ended up taking. She breaks down the difference between procrastinating and simply prioritizing, and gives you a simple three-step framework for deciding what to do with the tasks you've been avoiding so they stop weighing on you.

                  What You'll Learn:

                  1. Why an uncompleted task creates more mental fatigue than the task itself...and how that weight builds up over time
                  2. The real difference between procrastination and prioritization, and how to tell which one you're actually doing
                  3. The "Do It, Date It, or Delete It" framework ~ a simple three-step process for deciding what to do with anything you've been putting off
                  4. Why simply deciding to "delay" something isn't enough, and why putting an actual date on it changes everything
                  5. Practical ways to stop carrying the mental load of unfinished tasks (calendar reminders, device alerts, and more)
                  6. You don't have to get everything done today. But you do have to make a decision. Whatever you've been putting off, mama...do it, date it, or delete it. Let go of the weight of carrying it around undecided, and give yourself permission to either take action or set it down.

                  7. 256 | What’s One Thing You’re Putting Off…& Is That Impacting Your Mom Life.

Is there something you’ve been putting off?

Maybe it’s a phone call you need to make, a decision you need to make, a pile you need to deal with, an appointment you need to schedule…or something you’ve been avoiding because you just don’t have the mental energy for it.

But what if that thing you keep putting off is taking up more space in your mind than you realize?

In today’s Purpose Pop-In, we’re talking about procrastination, decision fatigue, and the hidden stress that can come from constantly telling ourselves, “I’ll deal with that tomorrow.”

And this time, we’re not just talking about it…we’re doing something about it together.

                    Join the Challenge!

I’m challenging you to identify ONE thing you’ve been putting off and take action on it.

It doesn’t have to be a huge task. In fact, I want you to choose something realistic…something you can actually do.

Write it down. Make the call. Schedule the appointment. Clean out the drawer. Send the email. Have the conversation.

Whatever your thing is, let’s stop carrying it around in our heads and finally do it.

                    And then…pay attention.

Because on Thursday, I’m going to unpack what we can learn from doing the thing we’ve been putting off.

What does taking action teach us about ourselves?

What happens to our stress and mental load when we finally deal with something we’ve been avoiding?
And what might this reveal about the way we’re spending our time, energy, and attention?

So don’t just listen to this Purpose Pop-In. Join me in the challenge. Pick your ONE thing and go do it!

Then come back Thursday, because we’re going to unpack what happened…and why this is so important in mom life what.

You don’t have to do everything. Just choose one thing and take the first step.

                  8. 255 | Why I Chose 20 Minutes of Joy Over My To-Do List (& You Should Too, Mama)

In this episode, Danielle gets real about what happens when the plan falls apart. And why choosing joy on purpose, even for just 20 minutes, can completely shift your mindset as an overwhelmed mom. After her original plan for joy fell through, Danielle turned on some music, danced it out in her kitchen, and walked away with more clarity, more presence, and a completely different frame of mind...even though her to-do list was still untouched. This episode dives into why moms need to stop outsourcing their worth to their productivity, how to release mom guilt and self-doubt, and why choosing joy...not earning it...is what actually restores you and helps you feel like yourself again.

                    What You'll Learn:

                    1. Why joy is a daily choice, not something that just happens to you
                    2. How releasing control over a derailed plan can restore your clarity and presence
                    3. Why parenting from a place of joy...not obligation...makes you a better mom
                    4. How to stop tying your worth to your to-do list and start choosing joy on purpose
                    5. Two powerful quotes on happiness and joy (from the Dalai Lama and Henri Nouwen) to reframe your mindset
                    6. Why small, joyful actions have a bigger impact than you think
                    7. Choosing joy doesn't mean ignoring your responsibilities, it means refusing to let them steal your presence. Danielle reminds us that joy isn't something we stumble into; it's something we choose, again and again, especially in the middle of motherhood's chaos. When you choose joy on purpose, you don't just feel better...you parent better, think more clearly, and show up as the mom you actually want to be.

A gentle nudge for overwhelmed moms to reclaim joy in the middle of the chaos.

In the busyness of motherhood, joy is often the first thing to get pushed aside. This week, Danielle challenges every mom to pause, reconnect with herself, and do something...just for you...that brings real joy.

                      The Challenge

This week's challenge is simple: do one thing for yourself that brings you joy. No guilt, no productivity required...just presence and a little bit of you-time in the middle of the overwhelm.

                      Ideas to Spark Joy

Danielle shares practical, low-effort ways to feel like yourself again:

                      • Treat Yourself: Ice cream, coffee, your favorite indulgence...solo and guilt-free.

As moms, it's easy to get consumed by responsibilities and lose ourselves in the doing of motherhood. Danielle shares a quote from E.E. Cummings that anchors this episode:

"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter."

Joy isn't optional...it's essential to showing up as your best, most present self. What can you do in the next few days to bring yourself joy? Take the challenge, then come back and reflect on how it felt. A joyful mom creates a ripple effect for her whole family.

                      • 253 | Is Clutter Costing You Clarity? 3 Ways to Free Your Mind, Mama

This week Danielle goes deeper on mental load, breaking down exactly how physical clutter and mental clutter are connected...and what to do about it. She shares the quote that stopped her in her tracks (what the most expensive thing in a disorganized home is) and walks through three practical tools for clearing the noise: purging what no longer serves you, brain dumping everything living in your head onto paper, and closing loops by finishing what you start instead of letting decisions pile up. This week's challenge: find one thing you can purge that will free up mental space, and join the accountability group for support along the way.

                        What You'll Learn:

                        1. Why physical clutter and mental clutter are more connected than you think
                        2. How living surrounded by clutter blocks clarity about what you actually want in life
                        3. The power of brain dumping to get mental clutter out of your head and onto paper
                        4. Why finishing what you start frees up mental space
                        5. How postponing decisions quietly adds to your mental load
                        6. Why prayer can help you find direction when you're stuck on what to purge or tackle first
                        7. Clearing space, physical or mental, isn't just about a tidier house...it's about making room for the clarity, presence, and peace we're all craving as moms. Small steps like purging one item or writing down what's weighing on you can create real momentum toward the life you actually want.
