In August 2021, Katie Tarrant revealed in Byline Times that asylum seekers were have their phones confiscated by UK Border Officials. Although the the Home Office insisted that the practice was within the law, it has now been forced to acknowledge that blanket confiscation of phones is illegal.

Katie reacts to the news, along with Byline Times Investigations Editor Sam Bright who sets the context of the government's 'hostile environment' to migrants.
