  • Insecure Attachment: Part 2

Continuing PRN’s attachment series, in today’s episode, we’re talking about the last two attachment styles: Anxious Avoidant and Disorganized. If you’ve missed the episodes outlining the first two attachment styles, Secure Attachment and Anxious Ambivalent, I encourage you to go give those a listen before continuing with this episode.

Although the content in today’s episode is deep and somewhat heavy at times, it also may be very enlightening to help you understand some relationship dynamics or tendencies in your own life, or in someone you love. We’ll be ending the podcast with an excerpt from John 17, looking for themes of secure attachment in God’s Word.

In case you think that attachment patterns are permanent, I want to share some hope with you. These patterns can shift and change throughout our lifetime. We’ll be talking more about that in next week’s episode on earned secure attachment!

May you be encouraged on your journey with Jesus!

  • Insecure Attachment: Part 1

Welcome back to PRN’s Attachment Series! Today, we’re talking about the first of the insecure attachment patterns: Anxious Ambivalent. If you missed the episode on Secure Attachment, you might want to go back and listen to that one before starting this episode.

There is so much information in this episode. It’s a lot to digest! By the time we finish this series, you’re going to be well-versed on the subject of attachment theory.

In this episode we’re talking about the relationship patterns that indicate an Anxious Ambivalent attachment style. I’ll cover how it compares to Secure Attachment, how this pattern develops, and what it looks like in adulthood. I’ll also share some common symptoms of this attachment pattern. If you identify with many of these signs, I’ll be giving you some ideas that will help you begin a healing journey.

  • Attachment and Authenticity

Welcome back to our attachment series! Before we jump into the insecure attachment styles, I thought we might talk about an important need that correlates with attachment, and that is authenticity. This episode dives into the work and research of Canadian physician and author, Gabor Mate, to look at how both of these needs are set up in early childhood, and continue to manifest in our adult lives.

Make sure to stick around for the whole episode! Near the end we’ll talk about ways that you can begin to heal your own authenticity, and to close the episode we’ll read a Psalm together looking for themes of secure attachment.

May you be encouraged on your journey with Jesus!

Attachment is an important subject to me personally, as a therapist, as a mom, and as a human. My hope is that you’ll bring curiosity to our time together, to learn more about yourself, your relationship strategies and patterns, your met and unmet needs, and the dynamics at play in your relationship with the Lord.

    So, with that….Let’s begin!
