This week's podcast is a preview and a first time ever announcement of the launch of XandOMedia.com where coaches can seek out and find help building their own courses to share and sell online.
There's a lot that goes into doing this but this should give you a good idea of what it actually takes to build something.
Enjoy!
This week's podcast is about questions I've received from coaches who have visited the website.
First off is one about what kind of Quarterback is needed to run the Pro Style Spread Offense?
I love this question because I categorize your Quarterback skill into three categories.
First, you have the Pocket Passer. He can throw the daylights out of the ball, but can't run worth a crap.
Second you have the dual threat Quarterback. This is every Coach's dream athlete who can run and throw...though many of them are more runners and just get by with enough arm to call themselves dual threat.
Lastly you have the Handoff Kings (for lack of a better name). These guys can take a snap but you don't really want them throwing the ball or running it any more than you have too!
There is a place for each of these kinds of Quarterbacks in the Pro Style Spread Offense, because it's not about the plays, it's all about the formations you use to fit your personnel.
I also will tell you how Peyton Manning supports my belief in the shotgun snap being the preferred vs the under center snap and his proof of a bad weather Super Bowl win is a great example.
I also discuss the latest Washington State Mike Leach offense as it attempted to handle some pretty terrible snow and wind.

This week’s podcast is about the three things you need to consider when you are looking for weaknesses to attack a defense. Starting off with the rationale for should you run or should you pass based on numbers shown in the box. We will cover the possibilities against 5, 6, or 7 in the box.
When attacking with angles, I love gap schemes. If you still cannot attack with angles, think about this strategy with formations to help get better angles of attack.
Lastly with personnel matchups, I talk about remembering to watch for these in film though this may be tough to see. On game day you may have an easier time where they can often be easier to see but not on the front of your mind as a play caller.

This week's podcast is all about a lot of mistakes I made in the past trying to figure out an offensive system that would work with the players I had. And I have a few good ones, just not too many.
If you've ever struggled with how to protect your best player from defenses completely keying on him every single play then you will like hearing this solution that helps you maximize your offensive players skills, even when they aren't getting the ball.
The second part of the podcast I talk about why and how you need to install your core offensive plays so if someone goes down, your entire season isn't over. In fact...I've even had some seasons where we've gone to backups and then when we got our guy back we were even stronger than before because we now had depth and options.

This week's podcast is about a simple system of training a defense to see and react to one thing and then once they do, catching them off guard with another thing.
Ever heard of Pavlov's dog? You know the story where he feeds the dog food every time he rings a bell? Soon enough whenever he rings that bell, Pavlov's dog starts salivating even before the food is brought out.
These two plays do the same thing. Get defenses to think they know what's coming until it's too late.
And even after they see it, they now know it might now be true so the get a whole lot less aggressive on the first play and you can make them pick their poison.

This week's podcast is about the core offensive philosophy you need to build a great offense - no matter what plays you are running. Find out which of these 6 keys I think is the most important as well as how I think you should be handling player correction.
Speed - The kind of speed you need to confuse the defense and which positions really need it.
Adaptability - What is a balanced offense and why it's not 50/50 Pass/Run.
Opportunistic - Where you should be looking in your scouting to take advantage of defenses.
Morale - why you can't ignore this key element.
And much more in this episode!
This week's podcast is about the simplest passing plays you can install and run without needing super skilled receivers and Quarterbacks.
I get it's easy to be frustrated with the passing game, especially if you have a solid run game and it feels like every time you throw the ball something bad happens.
You don't have to scrap it all together though. I believe that there are some plays that just work consistently well no matter what offense you run.
A few of these are the Hitch Pass, Bubble Screen, Wheel Route and more. I'll show you exactly why they can work consistently and how you can run them better than anybody else.
This week's podcast is about my review of some of today's most popular Wide Receiver Drills.
So if you're a coach who like to have players straddling poles to catch it with their hands or sprinting with towels on their heads…
...listen in, because today's episode is going to break down some options that will take your drills from ugly to great!
Seriously though, there's two simple criteria you need to apply to any drill to make sure it will be a good one.
Sadly, we too often go back to running the drills we did back in the good old days just because we think it worked then, it should work now.
And if your still running the same drills at this point in the season in the same order with everything else the same it's about time you mix it up please!
For the sake of your kids, there's no way they are still giving maximum effort.
Not if they have become accustomed to the drill and it doesn't take any thinking anymore.
Get them to focus on a new aspect of the technique you are teaching them.
And Never stop learning.
This week's podcast is about a new take on the Run and Shoot. Hawaii is back running and shooting and RPOing their spread offense to the island's delight. With only a Sophomore Quarterback but immense potential, we could be seeing the beginning of a new offensive juggernaut.
But even if you don't think it's worth it to be that "Run and Shoot" guy, even taking just one play that I break down here, the "GO" concept, and implementing it, you could make a huge difference in your offense very quickly. It's a simple pass play that you can get the ball into your best athletes hand and works against everything.
This week's podcast is about your questions again. First I talk about what you can do when you just can't run the ball inside. Hint: Find a way to run the ball inside! There's a way and I talk about some ideas I have to make it happen.
Then I cover the challenge a team is facing after losing their top running back. Now I could go down the path of how to find another, but if you QB is as good as you say he is, you will be really interested in hearing what I have to say about this situation.
