This week's podcast do one of my favorite things...learn from great coaches. Coach Leach and Washington State are going to be good again this year and fun to watch. In his first series alone I break down Y-Stick, Trips Bubble Screen, Man Run, Y Mesh and All Verts. So much fun stuff!
Then if you are getting killed with the blitz you've got to stop trying to always beat it with the pass. I'll give you my favorite run play to beat up on teams that want to blitz and also how I would practice it to get confidence on game day.
This week's podcast I go back to better explain my answers to how to use one word play calls and keep it very simple for your team. This strategy will get you going uptempo in as short of time as it takes to explain to your team how it works.
I also cover my rationale behind my order of play calls for an opening script. Get the one key reason that determines which play call I will put on the script next.
This week's podcast I break into the RPO offensive play development where you can see how I add options to plays. I cover my favorite play 21 Personnel Power and a simple RPO off of that as well as a Spread Offense Zone Read RPO that you can build up to 6 options off of it.

This week's podcast we talk about the three things I believe will result in much easier wins for your team. I also share my opinion on what I see coaches acting like in game that is completely distracting and not helpful to players.

This week's podcast we jump into a quick strategy session where we set up a practice script live for the first day of practice. Once you get those plays in your spreadsheet you can easily create multiple scripts like Inside Run and Team Offense.
If you haven't been much of a practice script writer, make this the season you start. Even if you just start with a team offense period script. It's a great practice as a coach to get your mind thinking about how you want to string plays together. It's one thing to look at a defense and say this or that will work but it's another to set up a sequence of calls that controls a defense or sets up future plays to be highly effective based on what teams have seen from you before.
Play calling is an artform as much as it is a science and practicing it when your mind is calm will only help you more when you have to do it under pressure.

I love my Bubble Screen Playbook. In fact I love it so much it replaced my quick game. Yea, we still throw hitches and slants, but other then that...the bubble is so much deadlier so why waste time elsewhere?
In this episode I'll show you how to make your Bubble Screen package deadlier than ever and how you can be a true spread offense by simple adding it and using them as Pre-snap RPO's. I promise you it will change your game and if you are already doing it and struggling, I'll give you some keys that you have to do to make sure it works every single time.

I get questions often about how to get hired as a football coach. If you really want to coach football, then you have to get some experience. But getting experience means getting hired and sometimes that's a lot harder than it looks. But rest assured you can get there, it's just going to take patience and making sure you don't have any of these 7 reasons for a coach to decide not to hire you. All of these coaches started where you were at one point so there are no excuses!
Once you take care of them, you will be an easy hire and will not have to worry about your next coaching job. Then you can start thinking about moving up if that's something you really want to do.

UCF under Scott Frost had one of the most prolific offenses of Division I football last season. So I decided to crack it open with an analysis of his first five plays of the AAC championship game against Memphis. In these first five plays I talk about the Spacing Route and why the progression starts from the sideline, the "shakes" route and progression, a simple RPO pre-snap read and why the QB gives it instead of keeping or throwing the bubble screen.
There's always a lot you can learn from breaking down an offense, especially when you get the All-22 film with sideline and end zone camera angles. It just takes a long time to do it! So here's a little taste of an upcoming new breakdown we have of every single offensive play from the game.

This episode marks the fourth episode of our spread offense passing series where am breaking down different coverages and their individual strengths and weaknesses. This week is Cover 4 which is a great coverage for defenses but in my opinion is one of the most difficult for coaches to teach.
Cover 4 can be attacked on the edges but watch out for those squatting Safeties! True cover 4 is a match up coverage like Cover 2 which is why it can be difficult to throw against. Fortunately there are some good options - especially a Shot pass I picked up from Tom Herman that I think you will love!

This episode marks the third episode of our spread offense passing series where am breaking down different coverages and their individual strengths and weaknesses. This week is Cover 3 which is one of the easiest coverages to run but unless you really know what your doing, it's also the easiest in my opinion to beat with the pass.
I love attacking Cover 3 because my absolute favorite pass concepts are perfect for it. You can't miss the opportunity to run All-Verts against it as well as the standard Curl Route which are both solid Air Raid Concepts. Much of your quick game is also going to be good against it because of the soft coverage of the corners in the flats and the openings in the seams. If you see a team running true Cover 3 get excited because there are some golden opportunities in the passing game!
