  • Kootenay Silver announces 2024 drill program has begun at Columba Silver Project in Mexico
Kootenay Silver CEO Jim McDonald joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the commencement of its Q1 diamond drilling program at the Columba Silver Project in Mexico. The program, slated to include 15-17 drillholes totaling 5,000 meters, aims to build upon previous intercepts along the highly prospective D-Vein target.
McDonald elaborated that the primary objective of the current drilling program is to extend the D-Vein, laying the groundwork for a subsequent program encompassing approximately 15,000 meters. This subsequent phase is intended to delineate a maiden resource, with an anticipated release expected in late 2024, contingent upon additional drilling beyond the initial 5,000-meter program and the requisite financing.
In addition to the D-Vein, McDonald highlighted that the company maintains a priority list of new vein targets and known vein extensions, all of which warrant drill testing. This strategic approach underscores Kootenay Silver's commitment to maximizing the exploration potential of the Columba Silver Project and unlocking additional value for stakeholders.

  • ISC Achieves Landmark Year with Record Revenue and Growth Plans
ISC CEO Shawn Peters joined Steve Darling from Proactive to to discuss the company’s financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2023. Peters highlighted the significant growth ISC experienced in 2023, with revenue reaching a record $214.5 million, representing a 13% increase compared to $189.9 million in 2022. This growth was attributed to several factors, including a full year of revenue from Ontario Property Tax Assessment Services in the current year compared to seven months in the prior year.
Peters emphasized the extension of ISC's registry partnership with the Government of Saskatchewan, ensuring continuity for both customers and ISC through to 2053. Additionally, the company continued to invest in people and technology to support growth across all segments, including achieving ISO 27001 certification towards the end of the year.
The company's adjusted EBITDA also reached a new record of $72.9 million for the year, compared to $64.4 million the previous year. This increase was driven by higher adjusted EBITDA in Registry Operations, primarily due to fee adjustments implemented in its Saskatchewan Registries division, offsetting reduced volume in the Land Registry. Additionally, the full year of contributions from Ontario Property Tax Assessment Services contributed to this growth.
Despite these achievements, increased cost of goods sold associated with the growth in Services' Regulatory Solutions division, along with increased investment in the Corporate segment in people and technology, partially offset the adjusted EBITDA growth.
Overall, Peters expressed satisfaction with ISC's performance in 2023 and highlighted the company's ongoing commitment to growth and innovation across its various business segments.

  • Clean Air Metals Targets Resource Expansion with Down Plunge Exploration at Escape Deposit
Clean Air Metals COO Mike Garbutt joined Steve Darling from Proactive to provide an update on the company's exploration and strategic initiatives for 2024, focusing on the Thunder Bay North project and its extension, the Escape deposit. The Escape deposit is identified as a magnetic anomaly extending for two and a half kilometers at a depth of about 500 meters below the surface, near the Escape fault. This area, hosting a 6 million tonne resource, remains largely untested, especially beyond the fault.
Garbutt says the the company plans to use a technique called constraint inversion to better define this target, followed by a modest drilling program leveraging downhole electromagnetic (EM) technology, which has proven effective in the past for identifying high-grade zones. Clean Air Metals aims to start this exploration in the summer, with the goal of expanding the current 14 million tonne resource. Additionally, the company is exploring opportunities in Northwestern Ontario, focusing on prospective PGE (platinum group elements) assets to add value to its portfolio. Garbutt highlighted the company's strategic approach to growth, emphasizing the importance of creating value for shareholders and exploring a variety of assets, from immature exploration prospects to more developed resources requiring further exploration to realize their full potential.

  • FTSE opens lower, AstraZeneca to buy France's Amolyt Pharma for US$1.05B - Market Report
The FTSE 100 fell as the markets opened, failing to rack up a fourth consecutive day of gains.
This was after RICS data showed the UK housing market continued stabilising in February, with fewer reports of falling prices being recorded and enquiries remaining positive.
Among companies, AstraZeneca grabbed headlines with a US$1.05 billion takeover of France’s Amolyt Pharma, which will boost its rare disease arm.
Trainline soared meanwhile, having unveiled a one-fifth jump in sales to £5.3 billion for the year to February, thanks to a reduction in the number of strikes in the UK.
Safety products group Halma was also among those updating, with a pre-results release leaving guidance unchanged but noting progress on the back of eight acquisitions this year.

  • Digbee founder and CEO discusses mining finance and sustainability shifts; new partnerships
Digbee Limited founder and CEO Jamie Strauss, discussed the finance markets in the mining industry and the importance of sustainability for financing large projects in a recent interview with Proactive London.
Strauss highlighted a significant decrease in specialised capital in the industry, from approximately $445 billion in 2010 to around $12 to $14 billion currently. This reduction coincides with the critical minerals megatrend and geopolitical rebalancing of the supply chain. Governments have responded by creating six funds aimed at investment in the sector, with more expected. This could potentially increase the available capital to $28 billion, with an additional $14 billion from the Saudi fund.
Strauss emphasised the mining industry's need to change its perception and build greater trust through sustainability. This is key to accessing the new pools of capital. The introduction of funds with a focus on sustainability indicates a shift towards responsible mining practices.
Strauss critiqued the current state of ESG reporting in the industry, suggesting it has pushed capital away. Digbee advocates for incorporating sustainability from the early exploration stages to establish a strong foundation for future operations.
The company was chosen by BHP Xplor to provide sustainability and ESG disclosure services to new juniors and was appointed the ESG assurance provider for Eden Natural Resources, a sustainability-focused fund launching soon.
