  • RUA Gold Embarks on Public Trading Journey with Exciting Exploration Prospects
RUA Gold CEO Robert Eckford joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share exciting news about the company's transition into a publicly traded entity on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the symbol RUA and on the OTCQX. This significant milestone comes after four years of extensive exploration work, including various activities such as soil sampling, UAV magnetics, geological mapping, and drilling approximately 25 holes across their exploration properties.
Eckford highlighted the company's merger with First Uranium, a shell company holding $7.5 million, which positions RUA Gold to continue its exploration efforts with strengthened financial backing.
The primary focus of RUA Gold has been the Reefton district in the South Island of New Zealand, covering over 56,000 hectares. Historical mining in this region has yielded approximately 2 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 25 grams per ton. With $8 million raised privately for exploration in the Reefton district, the company has achieved promising results, including intersecting 9.4 grams per ton of gold over 12 meters in a recent drill campaign.
In addition to the Reefton district, RUA Gold has acquired a new project in the North Island near OceanaGold's Waihi operation, known for its epithermal gold deposits. Initial surface sampling at this site has shown encouraging results, prompting plans to commence drilling by the end of the year. The company has allocated $1 million for exploration since July 2023, with ongoing drilling activities and results expected by late March or early April.
Looking ahead, RUA Gold plans to conduct drilling on its other land package, the Hauraki Goldfield, later this year, further advancing its exploration efforts and unlocking the potential of its extensive portfolio of properties.

  • TNR Gold Executive Chairman highlights promising assays from Los Azules copper project
TNR Gold Corp executive chairman Kirill Klip discusses promising assay results from the Los Azules copper, gold, and silver project in Argentina with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion.
Klip highlighted one of the property's best drill holes yielding 0.63% copper over 446 metres, including a segment with 0.9% copper over 70 metres. These results underpin the potential for an upgraded resource estimate as part of the preparation for a feasibility study, expected in Q1 2025.
Klip also noted the supportive political climate in Argentina under the new president, which is seen as favourable for resource development and investment, citing significant investments by major corporations like Rio Tinto and Ganfeng Lithium in the country's mining sector.
Additionally, Klip addressed the copper market's dynamics, predicting a potential swing into deficit, influenced by robust demand and limited new supply. He cited industry expectations for rising copper prices and discussed the implications for TNR Gold's valuation, particularly regarding its royalty on the Los Azules project.
With significant drilling activity ongoing, Klip anticipates the project's resource base will expand, enhancing the company's revenue prospects from its royalties.

  • US Gold Corp Advances Mining Project in Wyoming with Key Permits on the Horizon
U.S. Gold Corp Vice President of Exploration and Technical Services Kevin Francis joined Steve Darling from Proactive to provide insights into the company's progress and the favorable regulatory environment in Wyoming for mining operations.
Francis highlighted Wyoming's rich history of mineral extraction, which has significantly contributed to state revenue. Notable resources in the state include the world's largest trona deposit and high-quality coal for power generation. Wyoming's experienced regulators, particularly in mining permits, provide a significant advantage for companies like U.S. Gold Corp.
Under the leadership of CEO George Bee, U.S. Gold Corp has made significant advancements in its project over the past three years. The project, focused on gold and copper extraction, has progressed from a preliminary economic assessment through pre-feasibility studies and advanced permitting. The anticipated production is over 100,000 ounces of gold and 20 million pounds of copper annually over a 10-year mine life.
An important aspect of the project's uniqueness is its location on private and state lands, which minimizes federal involvement. Engagement with federal agencies such as the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the US Army Corps of Engineers has been successfully navigated, ensuring compliance with necessary regulations.
Primary permitting activities are currently with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. The mine operating permit, submitted in September 2021, has undergone technical reviews, with the public comment period ongoing. Approval is expected in the first half of the year. Additionally, progress is being made on water discharge and air quality permits, with the industrial siting permit already secured unanimously a year ago.
The state-level involvement in permitting is anticipated to expedite the process, offering a clear and efficient pathway toward operational commencement for U.S. Gold Corp.

  • H&T Group reports strong year amid increased pawnbroking demand
H&T Group PLC (AIM:HAT), the UK's largest pawnbroker, has attrributed strong full-year results to increased demand for pawnbroking services amid economic conditions and limited borrowing options.
In an interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion, CEO Chris Gillespie highlighted that their typical customer borrows a small sum, usually £200 or less, with a noticeable rise in business owners using pawnbroking services for working capital or investment. January 2024 marked a record month for lending demand, Gillespie told Proactive.
The company recently acquired Maxcroft Securities to enhance its service for business customers, leveraging Maxcroft's specialization in loans secured against personal assets for business purposes. The acquisition aims to build on the already existing portion of H&T's lending book dedicated to business loans, spread across 280 shops.
Financially, H&T Group experienced a 42% increase in post-tax profits and a 28% growth in its pledge book. Despite facing challenges in retail, especially over the Christmas period, the company managed to grow its core business and increased the dividend by 13%. It addressed the retail challenge by adapting to customer preferences for lower-priced, pre-owned items, which typically offer higher margins.
Additionally, H&T Group ended the period with a strong balance sheet, with a net asset value of £177 million, up 8%, and around £30 million in net debt, indicating modest gearing. The company anticipates continued robust demand for its pawnbroking services and sees positive momentum in its foreign currency and holiday money business going into 2024. Growth strategies include organic expansion and potential acquisitions, though opportunities similar to Max Croft are rare.

  • VRX Silica eyes Asian market with high-quality silica sand for solar panels
VRX Silica Ltd (ASX:VRX) managing director Bruce Maluish tells Proactive's Stephen Gunnion the Perth-based company is focused on developing silica sand projects in Western Australia, targeting primarily the export market to Asia and exploring opportunities for glass manufacturing locally.
The company sits on about 1.4 billion tonnes of resources, with recent supply-side shifts in Asia enhancing the viability of Australian silica sand due to increased prices that can now offset shipping costs. The demand for silica sand, crucial for glass making, is rising as large deposits in Asia are either depleted or access is restricted, especially the high-quality sand from freshwater sources.
Maluish said VRX Silica boasts sand quality exceeding 99% silicon dioxide, with a particular deposit suitable for ultra-clear glass production for solar panels, a market growing at about 30% annually. The company also sees potential in the downstream industry, leveraging Western Australia's abundance of necessary raw materials and cheap LNG for glass production. Despite Western Australia's mining focus, the demand for solar panels and the region's vast solar resources underline the importance of diversifying into manufacturing.
VRX Silica leads with its Arrowsmith North project, which is close to obtaining environmental approvals, crucial for mining in the region. The company anticipates starting construction following approvals and aims for first production by early 2025. Key upcoming milestones include environmental approval, project financing, and the commencement of production.

  • FTSE opens higher on soft jobs data, Persimmon slips on lower profit - Market Report
The FTSE 100 opened sharply higher as soft jobs data prompted hopes that the Bank of England could be reassured that inflation was cooling.
ONS data showed UK unemployment unexpectedly rose to 3.9% in the three months to January, which analysts said could help in encouraging base rate cuts in the coming months.
Among companies, Persimmon shares slipped in early trading after the housebuilder reported that profits more than halved last year on the back of market weakness.
Pets at Home also took a hit, falling on news the CMA was to investigate the veterinary sector over fears customers were often overcharged for the likes of medicines.
And finally, things were little better at pizza chain Domino’s, which underwhelmed the market with upcoming first-quarter sales guidance.
