FTSE 100 made a strong start to the day, racing ahead in early trading thanks to 0.1% uptick in the country’s GDP for the first quarter despite shrinking in March.
Pharma giant GSK confirmed it sold 240mln shares at 335p each in Haleon, the consumer healthcare business it demerged last year. GSK raised roughly £804mln as a result.
Elsewhere, insurance giant Beazley said it remains confident in full-year guidance. The London-listed firm reported a growth in premium income in the first three months of the year.
Elon Musk and Twitter have appointed a new CEO. Musk did not name the social media platform’s new boss but said that ‘she’ would start in six weeks, at which point he would become chairman and CTO.
Among the small caps, Touchstone Exploration said construction of the Cascadura C surface location is complete, paving the way for its first development well.
