The big story from the weekend is the news that battery manufacturing startu Britishvolt has been bought out of administration by Australian firm Recharge. The takeover revives plans for an ambitious so-called Gigafactory in Northumberland.
Back here in London the FTSE 100 leapt in early trading, boosted by some punchy performances from big household names like Rolls-Royce, Shell and BT. Shares in distribution and outsourcing company Bunzl are also up this morning after announcing this morning that its sticking to its guidance for 2023.
Primark owner Associated British Foods has actually raised guidance on earnings per share and adjusted operating profit, saying that inflation has eased and some commodity costs have even declined.
Among the small caps, and Hydrogen Utopia International entered into a collaboration agreement with Rocquaine Management. The two will explore opportunities for the development of Hydrogen’s waste plastic-to-energy plants in Estonia and elsewhere.
