Good morning, here are the business headlines for Friday the 24th February. The FTSE 100 arrested its three-day long downward slide this morning, perking up ahead of the weekend.
British Airway’s owner IAG has released its 2022 results showing a return to profit, making €431mln before tax, after losses of €2.93bn in 2021. Its also confirmed plans to acquire Spanish-based Air Europa for €400mln.
Over in the US, Google is under scrutiny from the US Department of Justice which is concerned about the destruction of some chat logs intended for use in an antitrust case.
Cineworld has raised hopes of a potential takeover, saying its talking to a number of potential buyers to help bring it back to life after going bankrupt.
Mining giant Glencore formally kicked off a US$1.5bn share buyback programme, due to be completed around August, ahead of its interim results.
And in the caps, entertainment group Live Company was up almost 2% after confirming all of its 21,000 tickets for this weekend’s Cape Town Formula E race had sold out.
