Why don't women self-promote?

Since self-promotion is a common part of business, those of us who do more self-promotion may have better chances of being hired by clients, getting speaking opportunities, and media features. You simply cannot grow if you are the best-kept secret in your industry.

But putting yourself out there can be scary and uncomfortable, right?

One of my first major visibility opportunities was, Emceeing the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Annual event. Basically, it was a must-attend gala for many of New York's elite philanthropists and corporate givers.

I was terrified. But I did it! And got invited back to Emcee several times after. Since then, I have gotten REALLY comfortable getting in front of an audience and you will too after you hear this interview.
