Welcome fellow book addicts to our eleventh tasting on Samantha Ellis's How To Be A Heroine: Or What I've Learned From Reading Too Much, an autobiography by the British playwright who discusses her life in reference to some of her favorite literary works. This month the ladies discuss the book that in a way inspired the idea for a bookclub and can be used as the basis for one much like the Jane Austen Book Club. Full of inquisitive and emotional discussion of how books can and do shape us as human beings, there's plenty to rant and rave about in this episode, all while attempting not to knock over our microphones!

This month the ladies discuss the love story that turns a gentle young woman who loves to bake into the ruthless Queen that calls for the heads of anyone who upsets her mood. Full of emotional turmoil, teen angst, and the sexual tension typical of young adult novels, there's plenty to rant and rave about in this episode, all while attempting not to knock over our microphones!

Welcome fellow book addicts to our ninth tasting on Anne Chamber's Ireland's Pirate Queen: The True Story of Grace O'Malley for a St. Patrick's/International Women's day vibe for March. This month the ladies discuss the historical and pirate shenanigans of Granuaile (aka Grace O'Malley). From the survival based culture she grew up in to her meeting with Queen Elizabeth, there's plenty to rant and rave about in this episode, all while attempting not to knock over our microphones!

Jane Austen is often thought of as a forward thinking, feminist author for her time, but how well does Emma stand up to our rating scale? This month (technically our December episode) the ladies discuss this fairytale retelling of Rumplestiltskin, along with it's major feminist upheaval allowing the female main characters to choose their own path in a time and a version of mythology that usually has women being damsels in distress. All while attempting not to knock over our microphones while tipsy on mimosas to celebrate the new year.
