In this episode, we spoke with long-time friend and former colleague Amie Bailey about some of the tactics of giving and receiving feedback - with a tangent or two thrown in for good measure.

  • Episode 20: Stop Making Excuses
I can't do this right now, I'm too tired, what if I fail? Typically when we're trying to do something new, or something that we feel that we have to do rather than what we want to be doing. This is one of the hardest hurdles to real change we'll ever face in life, and we often harm ourselves with our excuses. They get in the way of our own progress - so we wanted to get into some of the reasons behind it, and some ideas to get over it.

  • Episode 19: What about gender? (w/Linda Brandt)
What about gender? What about it.
Producer's note: we don't actually get super into gender issues. It's just the closest thing to a title we could come up with.
We had a great conversation with Linda Brandt about the Lean In movement, how to lean in or out, and what the goals of the organization are. We encourage you to listen to this episode no matter what your gender is, because we think it's valuable for all.

  • Episode 18: Being Busy Isn't the Boss of You (w/Charles Youel)
Language is a choice, and time is a construct. With our friend Charles Youel, we explore some ways to use that knowledge to create time for the things that matter in our busy lives. We also send out a challenge to listeners: go a week without responding "I'm busy" to your fellow humans, and see if it opens up any new adventures or opportunities, or just great conversations.

  • Episode 17: Cut the Crap!
In this episode, we share some thoughts on our journey toward having fewer things and moving into a much smaller apartment. We're hoping this project gives us more free time to be doing the things we want to do instead of things we have to do, but first we have to get ourselves out of "crap debt."

  • Episode 15: What if You’re Young? (w/Anna Meyer)
On this week's episode, we have a really lovely chat with young Anna Meyer - a pre-professional, straight-shooter, and really well-spoken and thoughtful human. We hope this conversation will lend some perspective about younger co-workers and give those of us more seasoned professionals some hope for the future as we hear how she tackles college, an internship, and embarks on finding a meaningful and rewarding career.

  • Episode 14: What if You Don't Know When to Quit? (w/Eric Johnson)
We've been building up to this episode over the last few weeks, because we have come across a remarkable number of friends who don't seem fulfilled or even remotely happy in their current positions, and we wanted to do something about it. We thought it would be important to first explore some things you can do to improve your situation, before making a call on whether to stay or quit your job.

  • Episode 13: Managing Humans, Not Projects (w/Mike Mason)
    http://prohumans.com/episode-13-manag…ans-not-projects/
Today we're - FINALLY - going to answer the question, "Who is Mike Mason?" which is a question that has come up on almost every episode since about Episode 4 - so the last 6 or 8 of them. If you didn't hear it from the beginning, it started when we threw out a request on Facebook for listeners to contribute to our Random Question Jar that we do at the end of every show. Mike Mason had fired off several questions in a row, and then as a final question wrote, BTW Who is Mike Mason? to be funny. But we put that question in the jar, and the very next guest pulled that question. Somehow ever since then, Mike has made his way into every discussion and we are so, so delighted to finally have him here, in person, as a real live guest.
