  • Kinetic Energy and Potential Energy

You can put energy into an object. Wanna know how? No, you don't need a Harry Potter wand. Just lift it up above your head! By doing so, you bestow the object with more potential energy. Learn more about the energy of motion and the energy of location in this clip.

  • Class Sarcopterygii: Lobe-Finned Fishes and Tetrapods

That took a while, but we finally finished our investigation of Actinopterygii, the ray-finned fish. Now let's look at the other major clade within Osteichthyes, the lobe-finned fish of Sarcopterygii. This is the clade that gave rise to the tetrapods, like amphibians, reptiles, and mammals. Let's start by looking at coelacanths and lungfish.

  • Work and Energy

What's work? Not that place you go to earn money. In physics it means something else. And what's energy? Not like in the groovy sense. Actually, energy is one of the most improperly used words in the English language. Let physics define these words for you!

  • Introduction to Particle Physics: A Tour of the Standard Model

After a deep dive into quantum mechanics, it's time to do the same for particle physics. What is the Standard Model of particle physics? What are all the particles in there, and how did we discover them? How can we use this model to do calculations? What is the future of the field? Let's learn all about it!

  • Frictional Forces: Static and Kinetic

Newton's first law tells us that an object in motion will remain in motion, but we don't really see that on earth, do we? If you throw a ball, or push a hockey puck, these things do eventually stop. Why? To answer this we must learn about static and kinetic friction!

  • My 2026 Bingo Card (Featuring Mr. Beat and J. J. McCullough)

2025 has come to a close! And what a shitshow it was. What does 2026 have in store for us? Mr. Beat, JJ McCullough and I have made some bingo cards with predictions. Some of us took it more seriously than others. Spoiler alert: I did not take it seriously. That's my bad. But between the three of us we have some great predictions that stirred some interesting conversation. Let's reflect on the year and share our hopes and fears for next year together!

Mass is just a fancy sciency word for weight, right? Wrong! Although related, they aren't the same thing. You'd better find out exactly what the difference is so that you don't look foolish around the water cooler! Oh and the normal force, let's find out what that is too.

  • Chromosome Structure and Organization

We've all seen pictures of chromosomes, and we know that they contain DNA. But how do we get from the double helix of DNA to the X-looking shape of a chromosome? Is it just DNA, or are there other things in there? How much DNA is in each chromosome? Chromosomal structure is incredibly complicated, but now that we've learned about DNA and proteins, as well as Mendelian genetics for a little context, we are finally ready to get a more sophisticated view of what's inside a chromosome.
