I was struck with inspiration to record this episode when I had only 18 minutes to spare. Instead of putting it off - I went ahead and got what I was thinking off my chest! This episode is all about conscious buying and how it relates to the way I market and sell my programs.

I've had a lot of experience selling and being sold to, and when you're investing in something for your business and for your life, it's important to make your purchases consciously. From my experiences, there are certain marketing and selling tactics that I accept and others that I reject, which I discuss in this episode.

Come listen as we say a fond farewell to BOB and meet Libby, the new rising star of the office!

This is just a reminder that if you feel stuck in a rut, you don't have to stay. And if you feel inspired to be a breath of fresh air, you can be! It's never too late to change. Through BOB's and Libby's respective journeys we get to explore:

• Moving on and ending on a graceful high-note
• An emphasis on respecting what works and discarding what didn't

Evolution is a sign we're alive. Change is the only consistent and inevitable constant. We can fight it, but it'll still happen. And we'll miss out on an impactful change that we actually needed; we'll be without it longer.

So how about instead of fighting the inevitable we embrace it, as BOB does. And honor what our path is, and also what it is not. And we get out of our own way, and the way of someone else who has new and exciting things to bring to the journey.

Welcome to Part 2 of my three-act production!

BOB, BABs, and Katie are back for Office Gossip Part 2: The Confrontation! Here we get more of a peek inside BOBs inner dilemma, as he bites the bullet and finally lets his boss know his true feelings.

While all of this is a fun way to say that I'm making much needed and refreshing changes to my BOB program (including a new name to be revealed in the next act), I hope the themes that transcend this creative jaunt resonate with you:

• Just because you feel stuck, it doesn't mean you are
• You owe no one more than yourself to go after your dreams

Here, what we ultimately see play out is acceptance of change, instead of resistance. Things evolve, and things end, and we can either accept those facts or fight them.

Really though, no matter what we personally think, the changes that are coming always do, whether we're ready or not. Once we give in and stop fighting, we can better prepare, step back, and make things better.

So this week, I decided to get a little silly, and well, enjoy my one-woman show.

This will be a series in which I act out a lil something to tease changes I'm making to my Booked Out Bookkeeper™ program. Think of it as a content teaser trailer, and I'm the star, baby. It's going to be in multiple parts, so you're going to have to wait with bated breath for further installments, like it's 1940 radio.

During my little performance, you're going to meet BOB, BABs (his bestie coworker), Ariel (BOB's supportive and sage wife), and me as The Boss. Giving my programs personalities and dialog was so fun, and it gave me a unique way to personify real problems that may come from continuing with the way things are just because it's working.

I'll be demonstrating:

• The effects of burnout and obligation at the expense of self
• Wondering if your job needs to feel like an obligation
• Hints at what is in store for Booked Out Bookkeeper™

When we meet BOB, he's despondent and tired. He yearns for freedom. We're talking Mel Gibson in facepaint on a horse level of freedom. But, the question is, is your audience getting the "you" that they need if you are denying your feelings and forcing yourself into something you no longer want? Does it have to be all or nothing?

Can't decide if you should work for a "real" firm before trying to go it alone as a bookkeeper? Sorry, I hold no answers for you; both ways are valid, and frankly, it depends on what you want your work life to look like.

It's also dependent on the level of confidence you have in your own skills. If you feel like maybe you need some guidance and systems in place to check on your work, then working under someone is probably a good idea.

In this episode we'll look at:

• Other reasons it may be a good idea to work under a bigger company first
• Resources I've developed to help you hone your skills

No matter which path you take, your skill set and tenacity will speak for themselves as soon as you start your job. Argh, taxes! They're barreling down upon us all, and if you're terrified of sorting through the past year's financials, you are far from alone.

At the end of the day, you deserve the knowledge that your business is yours and it's going to take care of the needs of you and your family. The only real way to ensure this is to get a handle on what's actually happening.

Avoidance is tempting, relieving in the moment, and devastating long term. It's not worth it. But your peace of mind is. You can do this!

Fundamentals are the building blocks for any small business, and you want to make sure you have a solid foundation to build on. If your foundation is shaky, or you're constantly faking it till you make it, that will eventually show.
