This week's Prog-Watch is a themed special called School Days! With fabulous music by The Kinks, Argent, Comedy of Errors, Pete wnshend, Godley & Creme, Big Country, Gentle Giant, Stone Temple Pilots, Frank Zappa, Van Halen, Joe Walsh, Paul Simon, Jon & Vangelis, Jethro Tull, and Rush!
This week's Prog-Watch is another edition of Epix! But this time around I've done something a little different. The songs are all still 10 plus minutes in length, but this time there is more emphasis on the contemporary. Only one track comes from the 70s...the rest are from this century, with one from 2001, one from 2018, and two from this year. Tune in to hear great progressive sounds from Yes, The Watch, Ben Craven, All Traps on Earth, and Athak!
A plethora of fantastic stuff has come across my digital desktop lately, so this week's Prog-Watch is a straight-up variety program full of awesome, mostly contemporary progressive rock! I've got great music from Combinator, Evership, Grombira, The Bedlam Furnaces, Numen, Robert Berry's 3.2, The Samurai of Prog, Lucifer Was, Head Spin, Porcupine Tree, and Glass Island!
I sometimes listen to old shows to see how I've progressed. In listening to this first edition in my “Shaking the Tree” series, I really liked the content, but feel the sound quality leaves a little to be desired. So I decided to remaster it, and in many cases used tracks from remastered versions of the albums. Since I had time, I also included a bonus track at the end. Sonically, the program is far superior to the program (although there was only so much I could do with the voice track).
I hope you will join me on Prog-Watch this week when I will be exploring some of the vast Musical World of the late Jon Lord! We'll hear great music from Deep Purple and his solo career, of course, as well as some of his other work with Tony Ashton, Whitesnake, and George Harrison!
More astounding progressive sounds await on this week's Prog-Watch! We'll hear music from Bill Bruford, Nick Fletcher, Robert Berry's 3.2, The Prog Collective, Caravaggio, Andrew Ruoti, and Grombira! Plus, our friend and resident reviewer, Dr. Rob Fisher, will take us on a voyage of Progressive Discovery with the latest release by the Finnish band Poets of the Fall!
Join Rob Fisher, Magnus Moar and Big Tony on Prog-Watch this week for a look at some of the greatest keyboard virtuosos to ever grace our favorite genre! Guess who made the program, based on the episode's cover art! Even if you can guess them all, you won't want to miss this one! It's a belter!
This week on Prog-Watch it's Part Two of my coverage of Dave Bainbridge! More chat with Dave, more great solo music, and more great music from his work with the Strawbs, Lifesigns, the Downes Braide Association, and Dave Fitzgerald!
This week on Prog-Watch my very special guest is Dave Bainbridge, multi-instrumentalist and co-founder of Iona, solo artist, and collaborator with many bands and artists including Lifesigns, the Strawbs, the Downes Briade Association, and Sally Minnear! Dave and I had a lot to talk about, so tune in to hear some of that chat, and lots of great music from his diverse career!
