He reflects on elusive peace as they struggle everyday in Ukraine. He talks about the support needed from the international community and the need to act now without waiting for the war to be over to reconstruct Ukraine to stand on progressive foundations.

For the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the upcoming presidential elections in Turkey are an opportunity to initiate democratic change. Beyond regime change, HDP wants to guarantee peace and security in Turkey on the basis of a new constitution, capable of (better) including women and minorities.

For Andreas Schieder, the recent aggression of Putin's authoritarian regime on Ukraine forces progressives around the world to reaffirm our commitment to peace and security, through democracy, multilateralism, defence and social justice, in terms that need to be redefined. But first, the EU must act with unity and solidarity in response to the war in Ukraine.
