Humans of Jeju

Project Group Jitda, Representative Vina (Park Jeong-suk)

Listen Later

The youth community project group Jitda consists of three members: Vina, Yunda, and Sol. Their real names are Park Jeong-suk, Kim Ji-su, and Jo Jun-hee. They use nicknames to emphasize mutual respect and equality. Vina represents the energy of the land in Indian mythology, Yunda means ‘opening up’, and Sol means pine tree, chosen out of a sense of lament for the disappearing pine trees. The three had connection through alternative education and came to Jeju with the intention of living a more enjoyable life. They settled in Pyeongdaeri village of Jeju City, and started farming potatoes while operating a small-scale farming platform called ‘Sonong Road’, where they utilize the harvested crops and sell a variety of food products. Currently, they plan interesting activities under the keyword ‘Ban Nong Ban X’, where half of their time is dedicated to farming while the other half focuses on pursuing their individual interests. They organize various cultural events such as humanities gatherings, harvest festivals, and ecological communities in rural villages.
