  • PIB ep - 23 - Jordan Drew - Parental loss to mental health

Jordan Drew is a personal trainer, former professional NRL rugby league player (who debuted in the Brisbane Bronco's for a match) a feat that not a lot of people gain access to what an amazing accomplishment!

Jordan is now passionate about helping children to become physically fit and actively encourages open conversation, dialogue and mentoring to children who may be in vulnerable situations. Why? because both of Jordan's parents suffered with mental illness that lead to addictions, resulting in Jordan losing both his father at age 8 and his mother in October of 2020, while playing football in France.

A tradegy no one should have to go through. Jordan has instead taken his InBetween journey and turned it into a positive. Wanting to help children learn to use their voices in safe and positive environments when often adults can suppress their needs and wants.

He also creates cartoons and has a podcast specifically based on what kids want to hear. As children, all they want to have is someone who hears them and allows them to voice their needs, wants and concerns.

What an amazing mentor and advocate for kids!

  • PIB ep 20 - Wrongfully accused jail term - Jeffrey Deskovic

Jeffrey was wrongfully accused of a crime he did not commit.

Spending 16 years in a New York State jail, eventually after many apeals was exonerated through DNA evidence. This story is FASINATING and a little scary that this stuff still happens.

It proves we are all humans, and sometimes, we get it wrong. However it is what we do with those wrongs that make us into a better person.

Jeffrey now has a foundation called "The Deskovic foundation" for wrongful conviction where he hopes to make it an international foundation. The systems aren't perfect, and as humans we are not perfect, it takes people like Jeffrey to make these necessary changes to the system and to learn from these lessons.

    A great story of healing.

  • PIB ep 17 - Daryl Elliott Green - Twice Shot

It was just one phone call. One intense second in time and the catalyst that changed Senior Sergeant Daryl Elliott Green’s life forever.

At 3:50am on 1 May 2000, in a dark Brisbane cul-de-sac, Daryl Elliott Green was TWICE SHOT – once in the face and a second time in the shoulder

Few Australians could have missed the horrific news of the Hanbury Street shooting in Queensland on the May Day long weekend of 2000.

It all began when a Hanbury Street resident made a triple zero call, reporting threats from a neighbour who had a number of guns and “loads and loads of ammo”.

On arrival at the scene, the then Constable Green and his colleagues, Constable Sharnelle Cole and Sergeant Chris Mulhall, were sitting in a police car performing background checks when they were ambushed by a gun wielding neighbour and shot numerous times at close range. Despite the inescapable barrage of bullets, the three officers miraculously survived.
