  • Being Adaptable Through Pregnancy and Full-Time Entrepreneurship with Danielle Desir Corbett

When we have kids, our lives change drastically – which often means we have to adapt our plans to follow suit.

Danielle Desir Corbett is the mother of a five-month-old-son whose entrance into the world this year has been eventful, to say the least. At her 32-week appointment, she was told she had preeclampsia, and that her baby needed to come out NOW.

I’m excited for listeners to hear her inspiring story about launching her dream job in the midst of a pandemic as a new mom, and her advice about all things concerning motherhood and entrepreneurship, from letting go of the things we can’t control to the importance of being adaptable in the face of big changes parenthood brings.

Danielle is the voice, face and powerhouse behind The Thought Card, an award-winning affordable travel and personal finance blog and podcast.

What did you think of today’s conversation? We’d love to hear from you. Danielle is on Instagram, Twitter, and you can also find her via The Thought Card and its accompanying podcast. She also has an awesome article in Business Insider about how to save for a three-month self-funded parental leave.

  • How Do We Cope with Burnout as Moms?

How do we cope with this very real problem of burnout? Real life is MESSY. Things bleed into each other, and that’s the reality of parenthood.

The other day, my husband and I were talking about wishing our jobs had more separation – that we could do the eight-hour workday, then deal with personal life when we got home.

More than ever, we’re finding both worlds are seeping into each other. Childcare and personal responsibilities seep into the workday, while work seeps into the evenings, early mornings, and weekends.

To me, this is the biggest problem of burnout – the expectation that we should give everything to our jobs and everything to our kids, yet still keep them separate.

So that’s what today’s episode is about – coping with burnout, and some ideas I’m trying out to AVOID getting to those extreme levels.

    I hope you’ll join me!

  • Mom Energy and Relinquishing Control with Hillary Elliott

Want to know one unexpected benefit of motherhood? Mom energy.

This is what today’s guest, Hillary Elliott, calls it. The mom, graphic designer and owner and art director of Agate Mountain Studio says learning to advocate for herself inspired her to help other women do the same.

In this episode, Hillary and I talk intensely about mom energy, relinquishing control, pursuing a career you’re passionate about, and how, sometimes the universe has a funny way of just working itself out.

  • Looking at the Big Picture in Business (and in Motherhood) with Baily Hancock

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the little things, in business and in life.

At work: how many clicks? How many clients? At home: what’s for dinner? When will the laundry get done? How do we get our children to go down for their naps?

These are just a few of the micro items we have to deal with day-to-day.  What if we take a moment and think: what is it that’s making us work so hard? What’s the purpose of our labor, the ultimate, big-picture goal? What is our WHY?

Meet today’s guest, Baily Hancock, a mom of two young children and passionate collaborator, connector and catalyst for community engagement and growth. She’s an entrepreneur who now brings her talents to Mighty Networks and is also the recovering overachiever behind the Ambition Recovery Club. Figuring out the “why” is one of the most important parts of her job.

In this episode, Baily and I talk about some real big-picture stuff, from prioritizing ourselves to adapting to life’s ever-changing variables.

  • The Power of Catching Our Ego and Living a Heart Centered Life with Randi Halaway

Life is so much better when you live from the heart.

Today’s guest, Randi Halaway, has helped me do just this and I’m so excited for you to meet her. Randi is a heart-centered soul and business coach who helps women transform chaos into abundance, and she cracks her heart WIDE open in this episode.

As moms, we can be so hard on ourselves – from being afraid to take sacred time for ourselves to showing up for our kids in the way we want to. Sometimes it might feel like we have to be perfect for them, or that we must shield them from hurt.

What if we took that pressure off ourselves and showed up in a way that’s just authentically ourselves?

Randi is the woman who guided me through this rollercoaster journey, from quitting my corporate sales job, launching a business, and having a baby, which was followed by the most difficult year of my life mentally. She provided me with the tools to resettle back into my body to find clarity and peace.

In this conversation, we’ll explore how we can reconnect to our intuition and our heart space.

    Resources & Links

Randi has been coaching and supporting women since 2016, helping them create and implement key strategies and organization within their businesses and their lives. She offers one-on-one coaching, courses and a membership called the Heart-Centered Collective. Visit her website and check out her free journal prompts and meditation guide. • Self-Care for Moms: Beyond Nature Walks and Spa Days

My hope with today’s episode is to shed some light on self-care and its many misconceptions. We don’t need to feel shame or selfish for prioritizing our goals so we can create a life we can thrive in.

    Here’s a gentle reminder:

No matter what we accomplished today, or how much money we made, or what we ate for breakfast, we are all worthy of self-care.

And when I say self-care, I’m not talking about face masks, bubble baths, and nights out on the town.

Imagine if we could all align with our highest purpose by taking the time for deep, reflective inner work. Imagine the love we could share and the impact we’d have on the world - it would be so incredible! Because if we can’t settle our minds and be kind to ourselves, then what good are those spa days?

  • Getting Over Perfectionism and Honoring Our Postpartum Bodies with Sonia Dong

It’s easy to imagine pregnancy and motherhood as this glowing journey, but in real life, babies cry. Children don’t sleep. Clothes don’t fit our bodies as they once did, and our brains work differently, too.

  • Light after Loss with Lauryn Laszczak

“The wound is the place where the light enters you.” – Rumi

Everything about today’s guest, Lauryn Laszczak, is inspiring – her resume, her energy, her outlook on life.

But what moves me most is Lauryn’s story.

Lauryn is a somatic business coach, strategist, retreat leader, yogi, and self-described serial entrepreneur. She’s married to her high school sweetheart and the mom of two daughters and one angel son, Ben.

Her story is not without its share of devastating moments, but I hope there are women listening who can find comfort in it, knowing that, after loss, there is light waiting for us if only we stop and look for it.

  • The Courage to Pivot and Reimagining Entrepreneurship with Chantelle Selkridge

When faced with other opinions of what our lives should look like as mothers, as  entrepreneurs, as women, nobody knows how to best navigate our lives better than we do.

And in today’s episode, we dig into the challenge of following our paths in the face of pushback with Chantelle Selkridge, mom of three, herbalist and owner of Rooted Bush Tea.

Chantelle’s journey to becoming a mom and starting her Canadian-based business selling Caribbean tea was not a direct path. It ebbed and flowed and zig-zagged in all kinds of ways she didn’t envision.

What didn’t waver was Chantelle’s faith in herself.
