Propagandos

This week, Conner and Alek welcome back friend of the show Nate Smith to discuss S. Craig Zahler's police thriller Dragged Across Concrete (2018), which forces us to ask a troubling question: does S. Craig Zahler know any black people? We doubt it!

Saddle up, Propagandos! This week, Conner is joined by Dr. Tore Olsson from the University of Tennessee to discuss his latest book Red Dead's History: A Video Game, An Obsession, and America's Violent Past. The conversations ranges from the deconstruction of the hillbilly myth to the portrayal of religiosity within the Red Dead games (or lack thereof) and wraps with what SHOULD be in the next Red Dead Redemption game. Obviously this interview is just a sneak peek of what is contained within the book, so if you like what you hear, pick up Dr. Olsson's book today!

Well... we watched it so you don't have to, I guess. This week, the Propagandos welcomed back to the pod Rahul Rao (@coyotebloodbath; @rahulraoandthewhites) to discuss Matt Walsh's new documentary Am I Racist?, a critique of anti-racist workshops that Walsh calls "the DEI industry". We really don't want you to pay to see this film, so there is an in-depth plot summary of the film before we go into our analysis.

This week, we have the incomparable Bernie Goldsmith, aka UAE Exotic Falconry Finance𓅃 (https://twitter.com/FalconryFinance) joining us for a discussion about posting, disinformation and vibes as politics. This conversation starts as an examination of some of Bernie's best tweets and from there sprawls out into an all-encompassing discussion that touches on Venezuelan gangs in Aurora, Russian funding of Tenet Media and right-winger's odd sexual obsessions. Enjoy!

Well, we did it. We watched Reagan (2024). I mean, how could we not? This movie is prime propaganda and we're joined by writer and journalist Nathan McDermott to analyze the movie and break down what it gets right and wrong about the Regan administration (spoiler: it gets a lot wrong!).

Witajcie słuchacze! Gather around and get ready for a story. This week, we're talking about the exciting world of... wheat! Alek breaks down a wheat scandal in Poland that has rocked Europe for over a year now while Conner's Americanized brain struggles to make sense of a political system with more than two parties. We promise you: it's way more entertaining than it sounds!

We're back with part two of our discussion with Nate Smith. This time around, we're talking about Mormon noir by way of Richard Dutcher's Brigham City (2001). We also do a little debunking about some Mormon myths amd set the record straight on Mormon swinging.

We got another two-parter! This time around the Propagandos are talking with Nate Smith about Mormon cinema, specifically the works of Richard Dutcher. The conversation ended up being VERY long so we broke it up. In this episode, we're discussing God's Army (2000) and how accurately it portrays Mormon missionaries and the various flavors of crises of faith.

Saddle up, listeners! The Propagandos are joined by Brian Huberman, a documentarian and professor at Rice University who studies the Western genre, to discuss Kevin Costner's marriage-ending epic Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1. Conner, Alek and Brian debate about the historicity of the film - and if it really matters - as well as what Costner borrows from and contributes to the Western genre.
