This episode discusses legal gun ownership in Black communities and how Black gun owners can support the gun-violene prevention movement. Firearm sales skyrocketed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020 Minnesota seen more first time applications for permits to purchase and permits to carry firearms than any other year in it’s history. For African American, non-gun owners living in the twin cities, it was the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd that made them question their beliefs on gun ownership. 

Some children are directly exposed to unsecured firearms in the home and gun violence daily, while others are vicariously impacted through, social media, the news, and active shooter drills in schools.  In this episode, Rashmi interviews Dr. Jones. A pediatrician in Minneapolis.  

Active shooter drills are required in at least 40 states. School administrators, teachers, and students bear the burden of practicing these drills multiple times a year.  For many, the experience is traumatizing.  In this episode, Protect Minnesota's Executive Director Rashmi interviews Ms. Emily.  Ms Emily is a high schoool teacher in the Twin Cities Metro Area.
