The U.S. population is aging rapidly. The population of 65+ will double from 2018-2060. This phenomenon is called the silver tsunami.

Breast cancer is a very common cancer and the most common cancer for women. According to the American Cancer Society, in Vermont from 2014-2018, there were an average of 132 cases for every 100,000 women. It’s estimated that there will be 630 new female breast cancer cases and 80 deaths from breast cancer in 2022. The U.S. stats are similar to Vermont’s. While it is a very common cancer, we can treat it very well these days if it's found early.

She also shares some advice on how to lose weight and keep it off as well as eating healthy during the summer months.

Food has always been important to Anne Hutchinson, RD as it served as a connection to her family and friends. At Gifford, the Randolph, Vt. native will be helping patients reach their nutrition goals through support and education. She will be working at the Kingwood Health Center. Hutchinson worked in the federal Women, Infants, and Children Program. She also spent time working as a Nutrition Support Clinician, helping feed those who cannot eat orally.
